Quick question. I too Submitted the I751 last week. They received it on Wednesday October 6th. My question is how long will it take for me to receive the receipt with a case number? While waiting the 18 months can I leave the country? What evidence do I need to show while this is pending when I do travel outside the US?

I applied in December, 2018. Submitted N-400 application in July, 2021. Only just going for I- 751 interview next week. Had to go for two passport stamps since! Crazy waiting times!

USCIS takes 3 to 8 weeks to process and mail your receipt notice to you, as of late it has been running close to 3 weeks. That is assuming they accept the application, you mail it to the right address, enclose the correct fee or did not mail in too early.

You will receive a 24 month extension letter as part of your receipt notice.

After your green card expires you can do anything you normally would do as a green card holder: travel, renew driver licenses, proof for new job. You need to present both your green card and the original extension letter together.

Hi Everyone. I hope everyone is doing good here.

I filed for removal of conditions on green card in March 2020 and got 18months extension which expires in Dec 2021. Online status says fingerprints were added and all that.

Just saw that they are extending the extension of 18months to 24months now.

So did anyone get the new extension or this 18months one is good for 24 months now?

Any idea how to get a new one!! I tried calling the USCIS but unable to get to anyone on the phone.

Need help please.

You dont need to prove anything while entering US on extension of GC. Just show them the extension letter and your expired GC. That's it.

I have done it atleast 40 times and no issues. Notice is basically just saying your GC is still valid as long as you have this letter and have same benefits like work/travel etc.

in the same boat, applied March 2020 expire Oct 31, I have called and they said they do not know when the replacement letters for 24 months will be sent. I have seen only a handful of people say they got the reissued one, and who knows when it will come. it is supposed to be just sent to everyone who is still pending.

Thanks for taking time in writing to me.

I stay right next to field office but they wouldn't let me go inside without an appointment and I can't get an appointment to talk to them as reaching someone on the phone is just impossible.

How did you contact them? Were you able to get someone on the phone?

My extension expires in December. Also any idea if i can still work after this one expires or have to take a break until I get the new one?

Btw how is yours expiring in October? Didnt you file it 3months prior to expiration of your GC?

I really hope you get it soon.

Btw did you apply alone or jointly filed?

It is frustrating.  My wife filed her I751 right when the slow down was starting and USCIS was still issuing 12 month letters.  We all but ignored the I751 since she was planning on filing the N400 a year later, and for her that process was very fast (less than six months).  It is pretty sad that USCIS keeps prolonging the letter instead of doing something about clearing cases.

They are doing this on purpose. They are intentionally making it harder to get Citizenship and that's how they make you pay the price. Frustrating but what can we do? They are the gods that determines people faith so we just play the wait game with them
