Also this is a DIY forum.   Suggest you become a student of the guides at the top of this website.

Only need a lawyer if waivers are involved, or legal trouble.

Thank you. We had a k1 refused before so that is why I was thinking of involving a lawyer

We ended up hiring a lawyer, just for peace of mind. I’m a worrier and felt more at ease knowing that I’d have that additional help. While this forum can be helpful, there are also so many negative attitudes that can be extremely discouraging as you try to navigate this process. In fact, during our first Zoom meeting with our lawyer, we learned that a lot of the warnings we were given by the voices of doom on visajourney, really weren’t issues at all.

So I would recommend doing your research, and going with a good attorney. Check client reviews, make phone calls, and see if you can have a consultation before you make your decision.  Good luck :)

Thanks. How much did that cost you?

Lawyer fees are going to be about $3k in total for us. About $1,500 for the first step. Then we pay the other half when it’s time to start the next steps, so there is some time in between. This doesn’t include the government’s fees, unfortunately, but I really do feel like it’s still worth the money.

Nothing’s wrong in hiring an attorney if you can afford it. It gives the extra peace of mind. I hired one for my N400 even though it was pretty straight forward but I work long hours and don’t have the extra time for that. Good luck.

Was it refused or denied?

Two totally different outcomes.

petition was approved. Visa was not approved as the officer was not satisfied with the relationship is genuine and the petition was sent back to USCIS for reconsideration

Probably a good idea to seek professional help, but the visa process, is "administrative" unless you have actual "legal issues", like Adam Walsh Act related crimes in the petitioner's past etc.  (Don't confuse the above with "legal advice".)

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
