I am asking folks I know there to keep an eye out. So far nothing about tourists. I am only 5 hours from about 3 hrs from Alexandria Thousand Islands Crossing. I guess I will just have to maintain the patience. Miss my daughter a lot! Social media just does not "cut it " after a while. So many others going through this as well. Thanks so much.

I may have misunderstood. You are vaccinated, but worried if your vaccination from the US will be accepted?

I am fairly certain it would be. Just bring the proof of vaccination with you. The same proof you will be uploading on the arriveCan app and/or showing at the border that will waive your quarantine period.

My husband from US is visiting me in Toronto in Oct and I can let you know then how it goes.

Odd. Now 2 people have told me that they got a test at the airport when they landed. Guess is just depends on the steps. I am still waiting to see the specifics for people travelling to Ontario, regarding the "vaccine passport". Otherwise, my daughter will come down here. She is stressed out from all the ####### going on in Ontario and says she really wants to "get away".

The difference may be “when” they landed. If it was before July 6 2021, they would have been tested at the airport and on the 10th day.

You are just not allowed to dine in if you are not vaccinated. You can always order take out. There is also delivery using DoorDash/ skip the dishes/ Uber. I don’t see how the vaccine passport is posing any problem in your access to food…

I brought up food because someone else did. Nothing to do with me. Also, I have the vaccine. Actually both.Got them back in May. Thanks.

I am concerned about how the vaccine "passport" is supposed to work with people going there from the USA. I know about arriveCan and all else. Two folks I know from Canada, living in the USA like myself now, went via plane to BC. Both had to have COVID test at the airport. I will be travelling by land, should I ever decide to go up there again lol)

They landed in August.

If it is after August 9, then it is a provincial requirement, not federal. For Ontario as of right now, no test is required at arrival. Even if it is, it shouldn’t be a problem. They will either administer it to you (most likely) or give you a kit to do it yourself and have it couriered over. Everything is paid for by the feds. So nothing to worry about.

No one knows how it will work, but what we do know is that proof of vaccination from the US (the cards given to you) IS ALWAYS accepted at the border.

Presumably the same cards will work when entering restaurants for dine in (show the cards physically), and later to upload on the vaccine passport app (similar to what you upload on arriveCan app)

Don’t worry about the test at arrival in BC. That is neither here nor there in your case because you are visiting Ontario and does not apply here.

Well, therein lies my initial post. I just want to know how the vaccine passport works. But I also don't feel that I should have to report where I am going, who I am seeing etc etc as stated in the arriveCan app. I guess I can wait longer to see my daughter. She likes to come here for our visits. We have waited this long. I know when the time comes that she won't have to give documentation about her activities here.

I just remembered, they might have been randomly selected for arrival test. There is provision for that even if you are fully vaccinated.

If you wish I can let you know how the proof of vaccination for dining works when my husband is here in October. Contact me then and I will advise.

I remember reading that unvaccinated travelers need to record where they are going and who they are seeing while waiting for the on-arrival results. I don’t see that anymore on the Canada website. So perhaps that rule has changed…you just need to comply with what the requirements are when you arrive. None of it is too much of an issue to comply with in my view.

Hope you get to see your daughter soon.
