Would it be a problem if you don’t have a health insurance for the interview?

Hello!

F-1 to Married-based AOS, PD March 2021.

Current Status is Interview is ready to be scheduled.

As I used to be an F-1 student, I had a health insurance from my university, and my husband has his own health insurance from his company.

I terminated I-20 as I was applying for AOS, so I do not have a health insurance currently. (I do have a health insurance in my home country though). My husband definitely wants to add me in his health insurance plan, but we are moving to a different state soon and he will have a new job, which he will have to switch the insurance anyways so I just wanted to wait until we move.

Will it be a problem if I mention that I do not have a health insurance at the interview if the interviewer asks me for?

Or do you recommend me to have the insurance now just to prevent anything at the interview?

Thank you,

and I hope everyone’s case is moving forward quickly!

The interviewing officer will likely not ask about your health insurance, unless you have a medical condition that requires costly ongoing treatment.  If not, having health insurance is not a requirement for AOS.

Do NOT volunteer that information unless the IO asks you.  It is unlikely that the IO will even ask you.  But, as a practical matter, I would find some health insurance.

Thank you so much for letting me know! I hope everything goes well for you, too!
