I would review the document that is linked into the first post of this forum. It should have steps there of what to do next and you can download it to make it easier.

I believe you can begin the DS-160 form and save a copy of it while you wait for the other pieces of information on the CEAC website. Also, the Affidavit of Support could be completed now as you wait.

We have been reviewing which documents my fiancé needs to bring to the interview and I am glad we did that because it has been taking him a few days to collect those items and make copies of originals. (Items that don't have a short validity period. Our embassy doesn't have a backlog so it seems logical to do that.)

Good luck!!

I was told we couldn’t start anything till our case had reached the embassy ( lawyers words) . We have all the papers ready and the affidavit of support as well. Just waiting on the okay from the embassy

Well I am certainly not a lawyer 😅, I just know that I can access this website without a case number and it feels good to fill this out while I am waiting. 😄  https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

Can we provide copies of these documents?

so maybe we need the originals

Hello guys, I went to the Interview on the last September 17th and got approved, but from that time the status on my ceac remained on Administrative processing for 4 weeks the change to application received, for 3 days and now change to "Ready" it's like they start over with that process coz the status says your case is ready for your interview at the embassy etc... I am confused coz I already got my interview and approved. is anyone over here has gone through this? it's K1 visa..

you should ask this at the consulate

was on hold another hour to be told that "We received your case file from USCIS last week, but the case is not yet been created. We are currently working on the cases received on 8th of October" is anyone else in the same situation? Where they are being told that case is at nvc since last week but no case number yet

So, quick couple of questions to keep me occupied.

1) When I get the Case Number and Invoice ID at that time I can log in here

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV  and enter the Case number (Under immigrant visa) that should just basically show me where is my visa application, AT NVC or IN TRANSIT or AT EMBASSY etc.?

2a) Is there any other use of this case number and invoice ID besides tracking your application?

2b) Once they create the case number how long is it when they are ready with our file? (In case embassy is not backlogged or any other factors) Cuz she said that after case number is created they still have to review it (I was a little confused because I always thought they are just a warehouse essentially)

3) Once I have the case number and it shows that it is AT NVC, should I go ahead and fill out the DS160?

4) Where do I submit the DS 160? Because what I noticed is that I do not need the case number or invoice ID to fill out the DS-160, do they require that information before submitting it?

Again asking some random questions to be prepared, I am really hoping that we get our case number by friday and be on the boat next week to the embassy.

Thank you in advance

You should actually choose the immigrant visa, not NIV. It's weird but that's how it works:

1. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV

2. Enter Case # and (Invoice # is only requested for NIV) and you'll get a popup that gives you the status and a few other pieces of info about electronic processing and logging in and ceac.state.gov/iv and steps for paper processing.

2a) Is there any other use of this case number and invoice ID besides tracking your application?

My understanding is that you can also login to your account (see #2 above) at ceac.state.gov/iv and pay fees, see messages etc. When I logged it I got a message about nonimmigrant visas requiring DS-160 and that was all I could see. I assume after my case gets to the embassy and I have filed DS-160 I will be able to get messages etc here. Or I guess my fiancé will.

I think this is the unknown. I'm hoping that my case is sent to the embassy on shipping day next Tuesday. Not sure what the "review" part is. Probably making sure they have everything the embassy needs?

3) Once I have the case number and it shows that it is AT NVC, should I go ahead and fill out the DS160?

We started ours (well, his). I've heard most people wait until they get the "ready" status before submitting it and others who have submitted whenever. Remember the woman who filed in Feb and it took 6 months to interview (South Korea) who shared a detailed account of her process? She filed the DS-160 before she even got NOA2! Like, a month before. But it's only good for so long and if you think there could be a long wait for the interview, you might end up having to do it again and there's a fee.

4) Where do I submit the DS 160? Because what I noticed is that I do not need the case number or invoice ID to fill out the DS-160, do they require that information before submitting it?

It's an online submission here: https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx

And it's long. And glitchy. And times out. You need to download the barcode page to take to the interview.

Good luck! I can't imagine what's taking so long. I got NOA2 well after you and have my case # already.

Also, I'm sure if anything I have said above is not accurate, I will be corrected ;)

Yesss !!!! Ours was the same way they said they are dealing with cases that arrived on October 6 as well, I called the next day and had my case number and invoice id and our case was sent to them on October 14. I think it depends on who answers the phone I talked to a few rude people who just told me to call back in 30-60 days, but I still called everyday. Again I would advise u call again Tom I always called around 1030-1230pm eastern time.

I did some math, based on just the hold time I am very close to a tie between me talking to my fiance in last 1 year and holding the phone calling NVC 🥲

2а) it’s really important for us to use these codes to ask for a transfer of our case to Poland. It just adds couple of months of waiting but it’s the only way Russians can get their visas. so for example I’m so impatient to get my MOScow number from nvc so I can write an email to polish embassy fast

They will definitely notify you via email or by mail. But if you would like to call and get ur case number u can because u can track it. Also most of us are not patient 😂 haha so we call to see if NVC received it and then we call again to get the case number. Totally optional

I waited 21 days from NOA2 to call because I knew it would take at least 2 weeks and the hold times would annoy me! So on day 21 I called and got my info. Might it have been available a couple of days before that? Maybe, but really until you see it in transit there isn't much to do (unless you need to transfer to a different embassy). I have not yet received an email from them but assume I will when it is in transit.

Advice on calling: If you don't hear a "ring" but get a whole lot of talking that ends in them saying they have too many calls, just hang up and dial again. Don't listen to the whole spiel again, just hang up and redial. I did that about 8x maybe until I heard a ring and then got the menu of choices (I chose 7 but I think you can do 2, 5, or 7) and then I was on hold for nearly an hour.

When it comes down to the interview , does anyone know how far back we should print chats and call logs ? Or most recent few months

I would do from the beginning until recent. I know its a lot but you have to show proof that this is indeed a bona fide relationship.. So, I would suggest to do a couple in the beginning of the relationship, middle and recent.. Print out the most valuable conversations that you have had, i.e. talks about wedding, talks about kids, and etc..
