Do I meet exceptional circumstance requirements?

Hi all,

New here to Visa Journey. Looking for some advice on my situation and if I meet the requirements to DCF.

I am a US citizen planning to DCF at the US Embassy in Paris in December, after my marriage with my French fiancé. I have been living and working in France for several years. In May 2021, I was given one month to move duty stations to New York. I realize that we are way past June, however, my new boss has been flexible and allows me to telework from France for the time being until I sort this out, with occasional travel to New York. As proof, I am going to submit my official letter of employment with the June start date. However, it doesn’t say anything about me teleworking in France (as this was an informal decision). But this is the only proof I have for the transfer of duty stations.

For my proof of residency in France, will it suffice to submit a letter from my fiancé’s parents stating I live at their address?

Finally, can I reach out to the Embassy to request DCF and an appointment in advance, before I am married? Or is it better to wait until we are married?

Thank you in advance for any advice. I am desperate to get our life started in New York.

Lau

You have to be married to apply for DCF

Get a move date after your marriage

No.  Consulates may only consider DCF requests for cases that are "approvable".  If you are not married, your case has no legal basis to be approved.
