Im not sure of the requirements for all the different types of visas.  We did K1 and entered the US this year and turned over the packet of information at the port of entry.  For IR1/CR1 which it appears you have done, it is electronic.  As advised by others in the thread, the OP needs to go a deferred inspection site.

It’s just a matter of time . Embassies will stop giving that burden to immigrants. It’s happening nowadays.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not exactly near an international airport, so I called Detroit (my POE) and explained that, and they told me "You can probably send it." That doesn't sound super convincing, so I'm going to try and gather some more information.

How did they stamp your passport without you handing over/them opening your K1 packet? Sounds way off if they didn’t even review your packet. Either way you’d be best to hand deliver for sure!

K1s still need to bring the sealed envelope of documents and hand this over to an Immigration Officer upon arrival.

Not always the case. My friends fiancee came thru LAX Sunday the 29th, like 3 days ago. she didn't have an envelope, just a sheet of paper with a barcode on it. The officer pulled up everything via her visa Number. She had the K1 issued at the Bangkok, Thailand embassy. When my wife and I came thru LAX in November 2018 from Thailand also, we had to carry the full envelope that the officer had to open, and went thru the paperwork. He was only concerned about the DS-3025 it seemed. Then away we went. But some embassies have gone full electronic now.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

THE INSTRUCTION WAS TO HAND IT OVER TO CBP....YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO ASK!...Just like courier delivers do not need your permission to deliver your package...It was an INSTRUCTION. ....REMEMBER

1. CBP is an organization, meaning no officer will take responsibility for the difficulties you will encounter if you were not processed properly.

2. You are the Immigrant, you have to be pro active!

3. Bureaucracy between CBP and USCIS can get you deported

Speak the truth even if your voice shakes

Yeah, no . I'm not an infant. But I didn't think about it at the time, and what's done is done.

That goes without saying LOL…plus how else would one fly internationally (passport in an envelope?!!) 😂😂😂

Oh there have been people here that were afraid to open the whole thing that they received from the embassy so I wasn't too sure about what you meant 😁😁

Actually, there are posts here on VJ from people asking something like, "My passport is inside the sealed packet!  How do I show my passport at airline check-in?!"
