How to get SS office to replace lost passport card

Hi, does anyone here have experience with getting your local Social Security office to replace a lost identity document? We sent in our passport card back in April to update citizenship. The office processed the application and we got the new SS card but never received the passport card back. We have called multiple times to ask them to look for it and nothing happens and they never get back to us. Sometimes they say it must be in their office and they just need to look for it, but no one will call us to tell us if they found out. Other times they say it must have been sent out and it is just lost in the mail. One time they told us they would pay to replace it. How do we go about getting them to pay for the replacement card? Thanks!

This is exactly why I'm scared to send the naturalization certificate to them.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions, but hope you get the card back or have them pay for it.

Sorry I never did update this. We ended up putting in a request for help with the issue to our state senators office. This actually did help and someone higher up contacted us from the social security office. They said we would have to apply for a replacement card and they would reimburse. This all had to be done very quickly because they were about to close out their fiscal year or something similar and wouldn’t be able to reimburse after a certain date like a week later. We called the district clerk office and luckily spoke to someone who knew how to apply for only a lost passport card replacement without invalidating the regular passport we still had and needed to be able to use. The clerks office was able to squeeze us in and then we had to go to SSA office and it took like 3 hours before they issued a check for the passport card replacement cost. So basically a bunch of hassle and driving around and waiting, but in the end we got it replaced for free.

I rather wait until they are fully open to update my status at the SSA.
