So I got my approval notice on Monday and new card in the mail on Tuesday.

Yesterday I got a 48 month extension letter, dated *after* my approval notice. Got to love USCIS! 😜

Congratulations on the approval and card!

I have very similar PDs though my I-751 is at the Nebraska Service Center, and I filed my N400 online.

Haven't heard anything other than biometrics taken for both cases. Hoping for some movement soon!

How does it help to file N-400 if you are still waiting (filed November’21) on I-751?

You mean you got 48 month automatic extension? Everybody with pending cases receive them. Doesn't mean your case was touched, unfortunately.

How/ when do you get 48 month automatic extension?

I had my N400 interview already prior to my I-751 approval. It cuts down the waiting time.

Also, a lot of people notice that their I-751 has no action taken until you file for citizenship. Then your files have to be reviewed.

Thank you!  I will get on that right away, then.  I appreciate your advice.

How long does this process seem to take I applied for i-751 on 9/03/21? Last update was February of last year but also received 48 month extension yesterday

It depends on your service center and luck.

If you want to naturalize, you can submit N-400 whenever you get eligible (which you should be, unless you don't meet continuous residence and physical presence requirements).

Same here!  We are SRC center filers back in September 21 and just got the 48 month extension yesterday, but that’s it.

My wife received the 48 month extension letter yesterday. Blah. When she got home from work and I gave it to her she said that my government is slower than the Philippines))) SRC here also.

Hi, I finally received my card today, and want to give everyone here my timeline as reference:

Apr 11, 2023, Card Was Mailed To Me
Apr 6, 2023, Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken
Apr 5, 2023, New Card Is Being Produced
Oct 28, 2021, Case Was Approved
Sep 30, 2021, case received at LIN

It’s been an exhausting journey for me (because I didn’t apply citizenship), but everyone here offered me great help and kind advice. Btw, It’s been weeks, my lawyer still hasn’t received my 48 extension letter but that doesn’t matter any more.

I remember someone mentioned if you are close to end of the processing time, applying citizenship may not be helpful, instead, waiting patiently for ROC would be better. This worked for me personally.

Oct 28, 2021 should be fingerprints update, Apt 6, 2023 should be case approval.
