I had a combo interview today, N-400 with a pending LIN I-751. Both cases were approved. 751 interview questions were the basic ones, how we meet, where we live, etc., in the end officer asked for the most recent bill as additional supporting documents and that was it.

System hasn’t been updated yet but I’ll keep watching. This long journey is finally getting to the end. Wish you all best of luck and hang on tight!

Congrats!

My wife’s I751 was approved yesterday during the N400 interview. Definitely made a huge impact applying for citizenship in our case.

Yup! I agree. This is the first time I hear something positive from USCIS since 2021.

Never too late!

I just downloaded the material from uscis website, they have the civic test with multiple versions(basic questions, text format, questions with background introduction etc.). Per their requirement I used the 2008 version, there’s total 100 questions. It’ll take some time to memorize them all, I started about 2 weeks prior to my interview. You can also find the writing and reading materials from the website , they are quite easy. In my interview the officer only read one sentence and I wrote it down on the tablet as the writing test, and I read one sentence from the tablet as the reading test. Focus on the civic practice first, leave the reading/writing to the last.

Thanks for sharing, this is very helpful.

Thanks so much 🙏🏼 I’m nervous because I’m very dyslexic and I’m scared of misspelling words when doing the writing test. Unfortunately, I can’t spell for the life of me 🤣

You are going to do great. That interview is the easiest and most straightforward part of the whole process. You only have to write down one phrase, and they dont seem to care for the spelling (my wife made a couple of misspellings). Just make sure you know the 100 questions.

Great ! Thank you so much :)

sorry to ask alot .. Do they start with Citizenship interview / test .. then grab your US. Spouse and do the I751 interview ? Or both interviews the spouse with you ? I would appreciate the nitry bitty details from start to finish :)

* Also did you travel outside the United States ? Do they ask about the trips ? Do they want to see the stamps on the passport ?

I think there's no standard practice. It all really depends on the officer because I heard many different stories. In my case she just let my husband stayed the whole time for I751 and N400, and we did a mixed interview, started with writing/reading/civic test, and then did I751, and then back to the N400 yes/no questions (from your N400 form). I didn't travel outside of US for since I get my PR card, officer did ask that question though. I think it should be fine as long as you were out for not too long, and can explain the trip purpose.

I-485/765/131:

06/01/2018 - Sent AOS/EAD/AP through UPS, received NOA1 on 6/11. Received bio appointment on 6/15 and completed on scheduled date 6/29.

07/06/2018 - Submitted EAD expedite request with job offer, reason was financial loss. Received EAD/AP combo card on 08/04. AOS changed to 'Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview' on 7/24.

07/23/2019 - AOS interview was scheduled on 8/27. In the interview USCIS can't make decision because original K1 file got split up somewhere.

11/25/2019 - AOS got approved, received the actual card in mail on 12/2.

I-751:

09/05/2021 - Sent ROC through FedEx, delivered on 9/7, received message e-notification on 9/9 stated case was received, check is cashed on 9/10, NOA1 in mailbox on 9/13.

10/28/2021 - Fingerprints have been taken (Reuse).

01/17/2023 -  Case was transferred To Another Office

01/26/2023 - Case Was Approved

N-400:

08/28/2022 - Submitted N-400 online, NOA1 on 08/29/2022, with estimate time 10 months for decision. Biometrics is reused.

11/23/2022 - Interview was scheduled on 1/11/2023, it was a combo interview for I751/N400. Both cases were verbally approved. System hasn't been updated yet.

01/26/2023 - Form N-400 recommended to be approved --> Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

02/06/2023 -  Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed, Oath on 2/22

02/22/2023 - Oath Ceremony, applied passport the same day, with estimated receiving date in middle of May. ALL DONE!!

Congratulations, is one of you ( spouse ) in the US Military?

No neither of us is in the military. Our whole process has been fairly fast, even previously. Curious if it has to do with the Cleveland office.

N400's are moving at insane speed. So are EAD approvals, I wonder when this whole new way of doing things will catch up with I751s

Part of me worries that if it does speed up it'll be primarily for newer filers versus the poor folks who've already been waiting a long time :(

A magical mystery tour of many US visas prior to AOS... (J-1, F-1, H-1B)
