We submitted my wife's N400 online.  As part of that submission we included a letter referring to our pending I751 (we included the case number) and expressed our hope for a combo interview.

We then subsequently received a transfer notice in the mail for our I751 to the National Benefits Center.  In the transfer notice we saw the words, 'In order to speed up processing...'

Last night the status of the I751 changed to Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken.  Seems to suggest background checks could be happening soon.

Have others in our situation experienced the same thing?  I am wondering if the National Benefits Center is working to adjudicate the I751 when what we were hoping for was a combo interview at our local field office in Boston.

Thoughts?

We also received a letter indicating the case was transferred to NBC to speed up processing, as well as a notice that fingerprints would be reused and no biometrics appointment would be necessary.  A few days later case status was updated to show “transferred to another office for jurisdiction.”  We filed ROC September 1, 2021 and N400 October7, 2022.

From what I’ve read from other VJ posts, in cases where N400 was filed with a pending I751 the next notice was for an interview for the N400. Others have reported waiting several (~4-8) months for the interview notice, depending on the local office. They have said they did not receive notice for an i751 interview but when they arrived some had a combo interview. Most said they received approval of the I751 either at the same time or shortly after the N400 approval. The process seems to vary somewhat by local office - I’ve been unable to find anything in the USCIS site about exactly how it’s supposed to work.

Here’s a link to a forum for N-400 and I-751 combo pending.

This is exactly what happened for us. We didn't think to include a letter referring to our pending I-751.

With this in mind, we are not going to worry too much about this or read into things too much.  We're just happy to be out of the Vermont Service Center.

We are now waiting with anticipation for her N400 interview letter.  My wife is 40 questions into the 100 she needs to study for the civics test.  She's doing well so far.  She can probably already blow the doors off the majority of Americans out there who were born and raised in the U.S.

Prior to submitting her N400, we had come across some posts here on VJ that gave us the idea to include a short note about our pending I751.  Eh... worth a shot.

You're right, we're not going to worry. I think the fact that submitting our N-400 seemed to trigger activity on our I-751 means they are aware of it. We're waiting with anticipation for the interview letter, too. I think my husband is ready for the civics test. Good luck to both of them!

Hi all,

Just checking in after filing in September 21 - I haven’t heard anything since the fingerprints update, so it’s been about 14 months now without an update. Is anyone else in the same boat? Is it just a case of sit tight and wait still?

Thanks,

james

Nothing since biometrics were reused. I did file the N400 in September, just waiting on that.

Vermont

Ours was Vermont, too, and it never seemed to move for anyone. About a week after filing our N-400, our I751 was transferred to NBC

Mine is in Nebraska, no movement at all since the biometrics reuse notification. I submitted the citizenship though, will get citizenship interview in 6 weeks but the i-751 is still pending lol. No sign of i-751 transfer, hope that I can get my combo interview, or else it'll be another few months of endless waiting.

I-485/765/131:

06/01/2018 - Sent AOS/EAD/AP through UPS, received NOA1 on 6/11. Received bio appointment on 6/15 and completed on scheduled date 6/29.

07/06/2018 - Submitted EAD expedite request with job offer, reason was financial loss. Received EAD/AP combo card on 08/04. AOS changed to 'Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview' on 7/24.

07/23/2019 - AOS interview was scheduled on 8/27. In the interview USCIS can't make decision because original K1 file got split up somewhere.

11/25/2019 - AOS got approved, received the actual card in mail on 12/2.

I-751:

09/05/2021 - Sent ROC through FedEx, delivered on 9/7, received message e-notification on 9/9 stated case was received, check is cashed on 9/10, NOA1 in mailbox on 9/13.

10/28/2021 - Fingerprints have been taken (Reuse).

01/17/2023 -  Case was transferred To Another Office

01/26/2023 - Case Was Approved

N-400:

08/28/2022 - Submitted N-400 online, NOA1 on 08/29/2022, with estimate time 10 months for decision. Biometrics is reused.

11/23/2022 - Interview was scheduled on 1/11/2023, it was a combo interview for I751/N400. Both cases were verbally approved. System hasn't been updated yet.

01/26/2023 - Form N-400 recommended to be approved --> Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

02/06/2023 -  Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed, Oath on 2/22

02/22/2023 - Oath Ceremony, applied passport the same day, with estimated receiving date in middle of May. ALL DONE!!

You would get an I-551 stamp (aka ADIT stamp). To get it, call USCIS 30 days before your letter expires to schedule a field office appointment. It helps to have a reason, such as upcoming travel.

9/14/2021 - USCIS received the application; assigned to LIN.

10/28/2021 - biometrics applied.

Since then, crickets.

Filed N400 on 9/13/2022, biometrics applied the same day, and haven't had an update since then on that either. Philadelphia over here.
