Hi all, my sister went for her K1 visa interview on the 10th of August in Islamabad. The interview tho short went out great and was told and given an approval letter. On the 14th when she checked the status it says refused.

Last updated 17th August.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thank you!

It is extremely common for Pakistani cases.  The administrative processing could last for weeks, months, or even years.  AP cannot be expedited or waived.  She will just have to wait.  Good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I understand that but she was given a approval letter and was told she will be notified when to go pick up her passport and it should be with in 2 weeks. Another person at their interview was told that they case was being sent for AP and was given a letter stating that.

So we are very confused.

The officer that interviewed her told her congratulations and that her sister in the U S A will be very happy.

All cases go through AP

She was approved for that stage

Approval is not set until the CEAC status is "issued."   There can be last minute background and security checks, especially for Pakistan.

I did not know that. Thank you!

Visas are never approved until after all reviews, checks, and administrative processing is complete.
