At what stage are u?

if at USCIS ,  simply means an  officer is checking documents for your case

when case goes to NVC,  there are 2 fees to be paid and 2 more forms to fill out

and yes,  to other posts  2 years is the new covid norm

I received an email from my senator saying that my i130 is with the adjudicating officer. Is this good news? Is it in the final stage or am I still gonna wait months?

thanks

It simply means the case is on an officer's desk.....it is the last step prior to approval or an RFE

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

and approval notice is only an approval of the documents submitted that they all submitted as needed/  not to be confused with approval of a visa

I find that answer confusing.  Approving an I-130, means the adjudicating officer has approved the petition, so that the beneficiary can apply for a visa.  It means they have judged the relationship to be valid enough to move forward, based on the forms and supporting documentation before them.

"With an adjudicating officer" means it's in a specific person's queue of cases to adjudicate.  It's a good thing, but you still don't know where it is in the queue or what their decision will be.

doesn't say the officer approved it and at which stage is the petition? OP does not say USCIS or NVC or post a timeline to tell us

and i was hoping OP would mention the stage if i told the 2nd step

but i got ahead of myself trying to type too fast as electricity here was on and off during IDA when she passed thru

Sorry to confuse

How is this a duplicate? The other one is about RFE being cancelled?

Not an official response.  You are still discussing the same subject which is what is happening right now, with your case being with an adjudicating officer.  Please keep the discussion in one place.  It helps the members keep track of what has already been said about it.
