Blank spaces on forms in AOS packet

Hi all,

I'm currently preparing family-based AOS packet based on successful K-1 visa. I've read conflicting information about blank spaces and non-applicable questions on the various forms (mainly I-485), and whether these should be left blank or instead filled in with "N/A".

For example, part 3 section 9 of I-485 asks for my most recent address outside the US where I have lived for more than one year, if not already listed above. As I have already listed this address, should this section (and other similar questions and sections in this form and others) be left blank, or instead filled in with "N/A" over and over again?

Many thanks in advance for any tips!

If a row is not applicable for you, put N/A. Section 9 of Part 3 isn't applicable to you because you already listed, so put N/A. Same applies to everywhere.

Yes I agree with putting the NA.  We had this put in every field that was not required for us and the instructions mention this as well.  Also, by filling in NA in the fields that dont apply to you, it will help you avoid missing a field that you are required to fill out and getting an RFE.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

I put N/A only in parts relevant to me and asked to be filled out. If I was skipping it from the form instructions, I just left it blank.

The only place your should never put NA/none is in applicant's middle name. We've seen enough cases of people that received their noa with "none" and "na" as their middle name.

Leave it blank for middle name. If the form asks you to skip a question, you can also leave it blank.

Either put N/A or leave it blank.  We left some spaces blank that didn't apply to us and we had no issues.
