Birth certificate laminated

I am Canadian citizen and living here for past 20 years, my wife is US citizen. I got a laminated birth certificate from my parents few years ago, which I have translated and notarized by a lawyer in Toronto. 

 

I don't have anyone in india to help me and to get the original record without laminated is now nearly impossible because in 80s i dont even know if this was stored in a digital database. I tried calling few places back home but obviously no good response. 

 

I have uploaded everything to NVC, waiting for their verification. But my question is in person interview, do you think they will give me a hard time with my laminated old birth certificate? I have original school leaving certificate and plan to take my parents affidavit as well. 

 

I just need some advice if while I wait for my interview if I should book a ticket to india and try to get this thing or wait it out and see if they ask me.

I would assume you will get an RFE, but you might get lucky.

omg that mean I might have to go to India to get this sorted. This would cost me over $3000

This is nuts lol in my all 20 years to migrate to Canada and becoming a citizen never have I ever needed my birth certificate

Yeah when i immigrated from Canada to USA in the 1980s I didn’t need my birth certificate.  
 

Since then the USA had an immigration amnesty that didn’t cure illegal immigration and then it had 9/11.  
 

So now the USA wants immigrants to have legit birth records.

The numbers were somewhat constant after the 1986 amnesty but exploded to new heights in the years after the IIRIRA of 1996: https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/RL33874.pdf
