Sorry if this isn’t allowed but I have a medical question. Where are you guys getting your medicals done? My husband lives in St. Andrews, Scotland. He said the only place he could find that does medicals for visas is in London. Is this true? Are you going down to London for your medicals and staying until the interview or going back and forth? Is he missing something?

Def not the right thread, but I don't know what is so I'm happy to answer here.

The only place you can get your medical done is the place in London. And you need to give appropriate time for the doctors' office to send the case to the embassy--I think the State Dept website says 5 days. I'm not sure if that's 5 business or calendar days.

My husband lives in Perth & Kinross, Scotland, and just had his medical yesterday. His appointment is on September 10th. He was able to get a medical appointment at the same time as he was already planning to be down south to visit a friend, so it worked out well for his schedule. It also gave him a decent amount of time to make sure the embassy received the medical docs in time for the interview.

In terms of traveling up/down, it depends on your schedule, finances and risk tolerance, as I have seen some posts from people who had their interview but the embassy hadn't yet received all the things they needed from the doctor's office, so that could add a delay in processing.

Thank you! Sorry, I wasn’t sure where to find the correct thread that was UK specific but appreciate you responding! I figured he was correct in there only being one location but thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Good luck to you and you’re husband! :)

Some from Scotland schedule their medical for the afternoon before their interview date. He will still be interviewed, but his visa will be “pending medical results.” They will keep his passport. Within a few days after the embassy receives the medical report, they will get back to finishing up his case and sending the visa/passport to him via courier.

You have the added cost of a hotel for one night, but avoid the extra hassle and cost of two trips. Pick what works best for him.

Hi,

I travelled down from Edinburgh the night before and stayed in the Z-Hotel. I got the first appointment of the day. I ended up having to do a sputum test which they said I'd have to come back for but I haggled and managed to do the first of 3 early morning sputum tests that day. Cancelled my return ticket and booked 2 more nights at the hotel. Bit of a pain that there is only 1 medical centre in the whole of the UK but none of this process is easy haha!

Good luck
