Oh well. We tried))))

It is unfortunate.  In another thread, he equates the Covid vaccine to early 1900s eugenics.  The entertainment value would be gold even if sad.

Finally done.

Like I said wrong time and place. I'm pretty sure the Philippines forum is not the proper place for this debate. There is however another forum where debate on this topic is appropriate and I would be happy to continue our debate there.

Thank you for illustrating my point.  You got vaccinated, which is why you can do these things and say “life is good”.  The Delta surge is affecting the unvaccinated who are doing those things.

Lockdowns were necessary before the availability of vaccinations to keep hospitals from getting overwhelmed.  The vaccination rate in the USA is 53%. The vaccination rate in the Philippines is 17%.  If the Philippines relaxed restrictions like the USA during Delta we’d see another India.

Incorrect the lockdowns were to slow the surge for the hospitals to prepare it had nothing to do with waiting for vaccines.  This was supposed to be a temporary measure and it turned into something else.

Multiple international studies have been done lockdowns do not slow the virus. Vaccines slow the virus, live case study that lockdowns do not work look at the Philippines.

The delta surge we are seeing in the US fortunately is showing signs of peaking.

I think you read my post wrong.  Nowhere did I say that the lockdowns were contingent on vaccine availability.  In fact, I said the same thing you did - they were to flatten the curve for the sake of hospitals.

Anyhow we agree on vaccines being the most effective way to curtail the virus.

We are going to the Philippines in October and November.  I tried the one health pass and the address area for home address is only set up for Philippine addresses.  It seems to be more for Filipinos traveling around the country than visitors.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

The IATF came out yesterday with the recommendation of "granular" lockdowns throughout Manila.  I almost fell over when reading the details as if the process has not been confusing enough over the last 1.5 years.  Around September 8th or so, Manila would move to GCQ, but certain hotspots around the city would have different levels of restrictions.  They would be coded as Level 1, 2, 3 ,4.  The lockdown area may just be a group of houses or subdivisions, instead of an entire barangay.

I know the Philippines has allowed LGUs to make their own Covid rules, which I took as at the barangay level, but now if your going to start dividing up barangays into tiny little fiefdoms, good luck ever knowing what travel protocols youll have to follow if your going back for a visit.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

I will be there Oct 13 and not looking forward to all the BS. I will enjoy finally being with family and I will be so thankful when my wife and 2 children get on that plane with me this time.
