Hi! Wife (German) and I (USC) are living in Cologne, Germany. We've been married since 2014 and thought we would move back to the US in 2015. I originally started a case in 2015, but we decided to stay in Germany longer.. every year, I actively notified the German consulate that we could still move to the US in the future, so they kept the case open.

Fast forward to today, and we're now planning on moving back to the US. The original case is still open and I'm a little unsure how to get it all moving forward again. Does anyone have any experience with this? We submitted the I-130 form and supporting documents back in 2015, but a lot has changed (moved house, new child, etc). I also looked at the current I-130 form, and it looks like a combination of all the previous forms (G-325A, I-864, etc) that I submitted.

Any prior experience would be much appreciated! I've emailed frankfurtvisainquiries@state.gov a couple times, but the response times feel a little delayed.

Thanks in advance!

If the consulate has the case, only they will know what is needed to continue the process.  I would guess, at a minimum, a new DS-260, a new medical, and new I-864 will be needed.  Hopefully, they will respond soon.  I wouldn't take any real action until hearing from them.

Thank you.. Yes, trying to patiently wait. I've got a move date of Jan 2, 2022 and need to make sure it's all taken care of now. They told me a couple months ago to wait until 2-3 months before the expected move date to getting things going again... that feels like cutting it a little too close though.

You should also gather the evidence that the USC has intent to re-establish domicile back in the US.  As to the other questions, I agree with @Crazy Cat, you have to wait for the consulate to determine what else they may need.

Good Luck!

You should know that it is possible the USC will have to move separately, and plan accordingly.
