Document translation for DS-230

I am preparing the documents to send with DS-230. For my country it is required to send birth certificate and police certificates translated to English. Does anybody know if I have to translate every piece in the certificates? I mean, do I have to translate each stamp, fingerprints, etc? Does anybody have a sample of a translated document?

A sworn certified translator can't translate just a part of a document and leave the other parts.so since you have to use a certified sworn translator he will translate everything in the paper.

For this kind of translation, the translator certifies that they are competent to translate and that the translation is accurate. Anybody willing to do it can do so, but I don't advise one to translate their own documents.

That said, my earlier post stands. For the USCIS, the above works. For the Consulates abroad, it is critical that the documents be delivered in a translation format they expect and will accept. So, the country makes a difference.

For instance the Consulate in Guangzhou accepts only the official Notarial Translation from the local government Notarial Office called the Gong Zheng Chu. For this question, one answer does not fit all.

For USCIS, you do not need a professional translator. I translated all German documents for my wife and there was no problem at all. You must, however, translate everything. For example, if there is an official seal on the original, indicate its location on the page and explain its significance, etc. Or if there was a, usually illegible, signature, I indicated this by "(illegible signature)" in the appropriate place. You must certify (sign and date) your translation by saying that you are fluent in both languages and that this is a faithful translation of the original.
