Hello VJ member

I got in the US with Cr1 visa on 11 July and still

I haven't received my Social Security card even after 6 weeks of my arrival in the US.

I contacted the Social Security Administration over the phone and they said they already sent it out my SSN by 13 July but I didn't received any mail or my Social Security card SO FAR.

Whenever I contact them they say we sent your card already and cannot do anything about it. Except to wait

Anyone knows to whom or which number should I contact??

Thanks in Advance

I would go directly to the local SS office and explain the situation.

If they said they sent it, it's lost in the mail and can't undo that by calling. The best is to go to the SSA office and apply for a new card.

Same here.

I received a receipt on August 13 that my SSC should arrive within 2 weeks. I feel like most people get it within a week!! It has already been a week and a half now, I still haven't received anything. Even the lady at the SSA office told me on the phone that I should have received the card by now.

I have read some of the posts in this forum which said that the mailman won't deliver SSC if you don't have your name on the mail box. This kinda makes me worried since I was using my name on my friend's address and put C/O my friend's name on a mailing address as well. So far, I have received every mail from SSA office but not the SSC.

I have tried to ask for a print out of my SSN at the local office since I really need the number to start working. One of the officers said that they stop doing the SSN print out since 2014 and the other said that they can't give me a print out on an original request of the SSN. But both said that the only way is to get a replacement card which should take another 2 weeks.

So yeah if you are not in a hurry, get an appointment at your local SSA office and request for a replacement card.

By the way, I would appreciate any advice on how I should proceed on my situation. The company has been waiting for my SSN for almost a month now. I just desperately need the number.

I've run into a similar and very frustrating issue.
Arrived in the country on the 18th of June,
Applied for SSN and card on the 15th of July,
Received a receipt for it on the 30th saying that the card was coming.
Never received anything.
Just called them up again after following up non stop for 2 weeks and they say that it was all processed on their end, must be a fault of the USPS (checked with them as well and I've been receiving all other mail from other federal depts like USCIS so shouldn't be a problem on the USPS's end)
Just called back again, SSA said nothing they can do, and cannot get it reprocessed since it is now 2 weeks towards the end of my I-94 being valid, so I have to book another appointment and reapply for another card, despite my name already having an SSN assigned to it in their system.
The way this system works or does not work is incredibly silly.

I know this is very frustrating. I hope you get a replacement card soon. I believe that if they already assigned a SSN to you, then it should not take too long to receive a replacement card. Hopefully, it will arrive within a week. And yeah I would put my name on the mail box if I were you,  just to make sure the mailman know you are actually here.
