I hired a lawyer simply because it's an expensive venture with a long timeline. I didn't want to screw anything up to add to that timeline. I'm happy I hired a lawyer and would do it again if I had to. Just not the with the lawyer I had. I don't feel like he did much.

Unless a case is complicated, they all do the same thing......fill in forms with information YOU have to provide. ...and submit the forms.  It is extremely expensive administrative work.

Hello everyone.

Is it worth it to hire a lawyer for K1?

How's the experience? I need your advice. Thank you

For Philippines I would suggest using Rapid Visa, they have an office across the across the street from US Embassy on Roxas Blvd. If the guy doesn't want to mess with paperwork or isn't good at organization.

They are updated on the latest for the US Embassy in Manila,  I would think they have lawyers on staff for issues if needed.

VJ is full of RapidVisa horror stories

It's full of all kind of horror stories from self filers to using lawyers to using places like Rapid Visa.

I advocate of doing it yourself, but there are people who just are not that organized or have the time, and from what I have seen the Rapid Visa in Manila isn't too bad.

There office is almost next door to a place I stay in Manila and I see the foot traffic coming and going, so they stay fairly busy and I would choose them anyday over a lawyer especially one in the USA who isn't up to date with the US Embassy in Manila.

I did not hire a lawyer for my K-1 but it was fairly simple and straightforward.  I contacted a couple of attorneys and found that they rarely dealt with K-1 and were usually involved in more complex issues, often concerning employment or deportation.  As I recall most wanted to charge around $4K and I would still have to do most of the work. However, I did hire someone in the Philippines to assist my then fiance with the process on her end as she was not comfortable with some aspects such as using the computer.  Since they only worked with her on her application they only charged me half the usual price. It was well worth having someone on her end to walk her through the process especially as she could explain things better in her native language.

Consider rapidvisa.com   they are not attorneys but guide you through the whole process filling out the forms etc and approve the whole package before you send it to USCIS. The people doing it seem to have a lot of experience.  Worked flawlessly for us with ROC.  You do a lot of the work but it costs just a fraction of an attorney.

I'm suspect he knows why.....It is usually because one or both were not free to marry.

Lol ‘both’ - there’s a relationship off to a good old honest start.

If the USCIS denied it, it never got to the interview stage, not sure why that was brought up earlier.

Just curious, does it say denied or is it saying Refused?  The latter is a status while still processing and not a denial.

From what I understand they never made it to the embassy stage. Straight denial of petition from USCIS.

Finally done...
