Pursuing a hobby that might generate an income while on a R-1 visa - allowed?

I'm applying for an R-1 visa to temporarily work in a religious vocation for a Non-profit religious organization in the United States.

I couldn't find information about whether I'm allowed to pursue a hobby on my spare time, such as music production and uploading the music to streaming services or any other kind of activity that might generate an income.

If I travel with my R-1 Visa to, can I pursue my hobby while being present in the US or will this cause issues with my visa?

Not 100% clear, but If you are generating an income of any kind, it is not usually considered just a hobby -- it is self-employment.

What is clear is that you cannot work in any other capacity except as a religious worker while on an R-1 visa.

Nothing wrong with making music videos and uploading them to the internet as a hobby. When you take the extra step to monetize them (no one just offers you money without you taking an active step to earn it, right?) then it no longer counts as a “hobby”.
