I-751 and Infopass appointment request timeline

In March 2021, I received a notice from USCIS that my case was transferred to a National Benefits Center. At the same time on USCIS website, the case status is "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview". My temporary GC will expire at the end of September. I worried the risk of losing working status. I am told to request an infopass appointment 2-3 weeks before the expiration date. My questions:

1. Since my case has been transferred to a National Benefits Center, should I still call USCIS to make a infopass appointment?

2. Are 2-3 weeks enough to request the appointment to get an extension before the GC expires, or I lose my job?

3. Is there anything I can communicate with my team leader at work/employer?

Thanks.

Are you referring to the 18-month extension letter? If not, then what is the "expire" date on the 2-year GC?

If you started working before the "expire" date on the 2-year GC then you shouldn't be asked for new documentation from the employer: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/complete-correct-form-i-9/completing-section-3-reverification-and-rehires

Employers should not reverify:

  • U.S. citizens and noncitizen nationals
  • Lawful permanent residents who presented a Form I-551, Permanent Resident or Alien Registration Receipt card for Section 2. This includes conditional residents.
  • List B documents

My temporary GC had already been extended for 18-month. After the extension, the new expiration date will at the end of Sep 2021.

I started working in September 2020. My GC has an original expiration date on March 2020 (i.e., before the 18-month extension). So I guess my employer can ask me to update my I-9 information?
