Comparing steps in CR1/IR1 process with K1

Hi. We are DQ'ed at NVC and desperately trying to calculate an approximate waiting time for our case to be sent to embassy and for the interview to be scheduled, and I have a question in that context.

Currently we are seeing tons of K1 applicants being invited by embassy to schedule their interviews, and when these couples post the dates of the various milestones in their processing, I have a hard time figuring out what step in the K1 process roughly corresponds to the 'DQ at NVC' stage in the CR1 process. Can anyone help with some insight on this?

NVC does not verify documents for K-1 cases.  They merely assign a DOS case number to the K-1 case, then they forward the K-1 case to the consulate as consulates request them.  On the other hand, spousal visas go through the document checks at NVC.  After "DQ", they are placed in a queue (at NVC) for that consulate.  When they reach the front of the spousal visa queue for that consulate, NVC schedules an interview, then NVC sends the case to said consulate.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thanks for responding!

The situation is that the embassy we are assigned to is not accepting any more cases from the NVC right now because of interview backlogs. But I see K1 cases being referred and asked to schedule interviews. So I am wondering if the K1 and CR1 queues are separate then, or whether anything can be concluded based on the timelines of the K1 cases currently being asked to book interviews.

I assume separate queues since K-1s schedule their own appointments.

Correct.  Note the difference between being invited to make an appointment and actually receiving an appointment for an available future date.  Not the same thing.
