Is being fair from the field office grounds to request a same day interview and ceremony?

My field office is Portland, and I'm 5 hours away, driving, assuming no traffic. My AOS interview was in a different state, and my ROC interview was waived, so this would be my first time showing up.

I'm about to apply for citizenship, and it would presumably mean that I take the day off work, drive up the day before, get a hotel, then show up for the interview. Unless the interview is after 1pm, in which I'd be comfortable leaving the day of.

I hear that Portland doesn't do same day anything. Is there anything I can do or say to please get it done in one day, with the oath ceremony? I really, really, don't want to make the same 10-hour round-trip again just for that, again getting a hotel, taking time off work... But mostly the drive.

Are there any considerations for just being far from the FO or it is what it is? Anything I can include in my application or cover letter? Or afterward, during the interview?

The FO would need to have the arrangements in advance for same day interviews (you’ll need a time slot and someone to administer the oath, the ability for the FO to print a naturalization certificate the same day, etc). If the FO does not normally do same day then you certainly must request in advance- still no guarantee, but a better chance than if you just ask at interview.

Thanks! Is there a special form? I'm guessing not. Is that something I would request when I send the application, or some other way? I guess technically speaking I'm not sure I'd end up in Portland, but I'm an equal distance between that office and Sacramento, so I figured Portland is more likely because I live in Oregon. Is it something I'd request by letter after applying and getting an interview date, or calling, or all three?

You can look up your FO by zip code, scroll down to the end of this page https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-a-uscis-office/field-offices

No, there is no form for this. You can add a cover letter if you file by mail, or upload under additional documents if you file online. If you’ve already filed, then yes a letter to the FO once you have your interview date would probably be the way to do it.

Thanks! My FO is definitely Portland, but I heard that you could end up in a different FO based on how busy yours is, so I figured Sacramento is a possibility. Doubt it though.

I haven't submitted the forms yet, so I will mention it in my cover letter (or write a separate letter on top of the cover letter that outlines my submission pieces?). Then I guess reiterate when I have an interview. Fingers crossed :)

Fyi my daughter’s n400 was processed by a different FO but she had her actual interview at the one our zip code falls under.

If you haven’t submitted yet I’d recommend online filing.
