I mean if the date on your appointment letter you present to the medical examination people to do your medical exam, states that your interview appointment is on or after October 1st 2021, the covid vaccine will be a requirement to give you a completed medical exam, if you do not have it. They do not provide said vaccine therefore you will not complete your medical exam. Therefore, you won’t have the necessary clearances to go to your interview and be approved

Here's our story:

Our interview is in Korea. Interview date is after October 1st. But the medical examination is on September 20th

RoC Timeline:

  1. 12/01/2023 - Application sent to Tempe, AZ lockbox
  2. 12/06/2023 - Application received by USCIS
  3. 12/12/2023 - Check cashed by USCIS
  4. 12/22/2023 - I-797C notice recieved giving access to 48 months extension letter online.

You’ll need the vaccine.

you need to check the rules for your specific country. they will be asking for all people interviewing on or after October 1st in Mexico specifically to be fully covid vaccinated. that however isnt the case for every country, counties such as the Filipines, it is already a requirement there perople with appointments there even this or next week have to be fully vaccinated already (prior to october 1st). my thoughts to you is, go to the website of the medical center you will be going to and chat with them or give them a call and ask if it is a requirement. these places are here to make good money, they do not provide covid vaccines as they are there to get money, even an influenza vaccine there is 40 dollars and covid vaccines are supposed to be free so they just dont provide them. if you dont have 3 weeks to spare between the first and second dose, get the johnson and johnson as that is the only single dose vaccine, in the US at least. good luck to you and your spouse

From my understanding, you will NOT need the vaccine. Only if the medical examination is post October 1.

I spoke to a worker at one of the medical places in Ciudad Juárez, and she said, anyone! Who’s appointment (consular appointment) is on or after October 1st, Is required to have their covid vaccines completed as they have been told that it is a requirement to complete said people medical exams

when I created this thread I should of been place specific. As I don’t know what the rules and regulations are for any other country other than Mexico. If you’re from another country reading this thread, contact the medical examiner you will be going to and ask them to be sure it is the proper information for your country

Got it, I guess it depends on the country then as you said above.

Exactly! I edited the last post. People should really contact the medical examiner from their respective country and just make sure. It would suck to walk in without something because you got the information but for another countries rules and regulations.
If people want to post where they are migrating from and what the rules are for those countries, I’m sure people could find that helpful. This is a new rule so it doesn’t even show up on most of even the medical websites. And some lawyers don’t even know about it, mine at least, he told me I didn’t even need the covid vaccine. And although my case was expedited, I still don’t have an appointment letter, my appointment will for sure be after October 1st

Here is what the US Embassy in Vietnam says:

https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/medical-examination-and-vaccination/

"Starting October 1, 2021, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control will require that panel physicians include COVID vaccinations as part of the larger visa medical evaluation process.  This new process will not impact those that have already begun the medical examination process prior to October 1, nor those that already have their visas and plan to travel after October 1. "

My wife started her medical checks in June of 2021.  TB screening, all vaccines(no covid), urine test all done before mid July 2021. However, we believe the sign off of the medical check didn't happen until late October.  Late sign off was due to many months of Covid outbreak and total shutdown in VN.

We're not sure if she will have received a 'completed' report since she doesn't yet have covid vaccine.  (She's waiting to take cv vaccine after completing breastfeeding for our daughter).

Her interview is December 6, 2021.  Any thoughts on whether she will be ok to receive visa without the cv vax considering the above October 1?

Sounds like she needs the vax, look around and find the Johnson and Johnson, don’t let that be the reason she is found inadmisible

Thanks for your reply.  We did find out that her vaccination report was marked as 'completed' so looks like she is clear to travel 👍

I should have been more specific as it might be helpful to someone else.  My wife's vaccination report was marked as completed by the civil surgeon/physician without her having a covid-19 vaccine.  She started her health exam in June, 2021.  The medical exam report(including vaccination status) was signed by the civil surgeon/physician in November, 2021.

It seems that the rule is, if you started your medical exam before October 1, 2021, then you are not required to have proof of covid-19 vaccine.  This is in the context of an application for an immigrant visa(IR1).  I can't speak to the rules for K1 or other.  Good luck.

Update...My wife was able to travel to US on Dec 8 without covid vax.  If you're one of the lucky ones who had started your medical before October 1, you should be able to do the same.  Good luck, everyone.
