Is the covid vaccine now a requirement?

Does anyone know if people are being given, or forced to get the covid vaccine at the medical appointment to be able to migrate? More specifically at the Ciudad Juárez consulate. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I can’t find the answer anywhere

LA County is not doing a vaccine passport thing to go everywhere. Some businesses are asking for it but I've yet to come across one myself. You DO need to wear a mask in indoor public places. The county is considering requiring proof of vaccination in some indoor spaces like restaurants, bars and gyms but it has not come to a decision.

So many countries don’t have enough vaccine, it is imporssibie to make it a requirement for a long time probably.

Source for your “mandate” comment please?

There are some rumors but unclear who would be required to have the vaccine; i.e. a Reuters article mentioned some sort of replacement of the COVID regional bans with a vaccine requirement being discussed by the Administration:

Hopefully they don't try to emulate Canada as that would shut out many countries that have very limited doses of the "approved" vaccines: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada

there is a difference between a vaccine exemption to a ban and requiring a vaccine as part of the immigrant visa medical.  And speaking from personal experience, if a required  vaccine is unavailable in the country of origin a waiver is issued. We all (my family) got waived for one vaccine because it was not available (countrywide shortage) when we did our medicals.

edit: as per CDC https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/laws-regs/vaccination-immigration/revised-vaccination-immigration-faq.html#panel

If a vaccine is not available in a given country, a panel physician can indicate that on the medical exam form. A blanket waiver may be granted through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).

Also, no one is going to force you to get a vaccine. There are vaccine requirements for an immigrant visa, Covid may or may not be added in due course. As with all other immigration vaccine requirements, you can apply for a vaccine exemption, or you can choose not to immigrate. But no one is going to hold you down and inject you against your will.

Correct, that is the procedure the Panel Physicians must follow.

But if the COVID regional bans are replaced with a vaccine requirement that mirrors Canada's "approved" vaccine list it'll shut out those general travelers that either have unapproved vaccines or are from somewhere that lacks steady access to approved vaccines (predominantly those that live in countries like Brazil, China, South Africa, etc.) while such travelers with approved vaccines (those that live in UK, Ireland, and Schengen) would be allowed in.

OP’s question was about immigration, not the travel bans. People on immigrant visas are excepted from travel bans.

(Fyi SA has sped up vaccinations remarkably in the last month or so, most of them approved by the US.)
