Hi friends

my friend’s (US Citizen) son (4 years)came as dependent and is on green card right now.

son came March 2021 in United States.

I am assuming that he is already US citizen as minor Bcz his dad is US citizen.

so can he get his naturalization certificate? If yes what is the procesure.

thanks

Was the dad a citizen when the kid was born?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

The child can not get a naturalization certificate because the child did not go through the naturalization process.  The child automatically became a US citizen under the Child Citizenship Act.  The child as a US citizen can file an N-600 for a Certificate of Citizenship.  The USC child also file for a US passport.

Filing for the N600 is fairly expensive and not really necessary just to get a naturalization certificate.  Just apply for a US Passport for the minor child.

Passport is faster and cheaper so would suggest that first.

To OP, the dad will also need to show the child is in his physical and legal custody - I presume he can do that? We know the other factors (citizen parent, green card, under 18] are met.
