How recent does the NBI clearance have to be? Family in the PHilippines says it doesn't have to be renewed (whatever that means). The line is such a pain.

NBI Clearance would definately have to be renewed .. if someone committed a crime after the issuance of an NBI Clearance then the report would be incorrect.

Many at VJ have recommended that Mylene's paperwork be no older than 6 months (even the paperwork that says that it can be up to 1 year old in packet 4)

All the lines, and traffic, and waiting in the Philippines is definately a pain; I believe that a huge majority of people there do not know the concept of using the phone to get answers to questions that they may have (this is definately the case with the people that I have dealt with anyways) .. when you get to the US you will see that people here do know how to use the phone to get their answers (not NBI Clearance precisely, but many, many other things) which makes everything so much better.

I cannot even describe how many times Mylene has made trips .. thru the traffic, and lines, and waiting .. just to find out that she could not accomplish the task at hand for whatever reason .. a simple phone call would have saved so much time and money (for transportation) .. but being the "male" counterpart, I will simply have to learn that I am always wrong when I suggest something like that (even when I am right .. lol)

Good luck in your journey !!

Best to get NBI clearance as soon as you start the process in case there are problems with it.

Update it a month before the interview.

its easier/faster for her to renew it (let her bring the old nbi cert)... its not really a pain in the butt to get one. i heard they serve it in some malls??? anywayz it only took at least an hr for me to renew mine. no sweat really... its better to have renew maybe less than a month before the interview!!! good luck!

Citizenship N-400

4/15/2010- sent my N-400 via fedex overnight

4/16/2010- signed and delivered

For renewal, it will only take you less than an hour. I got my clearance renewed in 10 minutes. I went to an NBI office near my place (Sta. Rosa, Laguna) in the afternoon and there's only 3 of us in line. You can also renew your clearance in designated malls (SM/MegaMall), it is busy and longer lines at their Carriedo Office because it seems everyone is going there to get their clearances.

Even if NBI clearance is good for a year, it is better to have it renewed before your interview. Good luck.

hi turtle74, i got my nbi clearance for an hour only at the parksquare 1-makati city kiosk(manila)..there are actually 4 kiosks where she can renew her clearance, and it is located in:

1)Park Square I, Makati City

2)SM Mega Mall (Bldg. B. Basement), Mandaluyong City

3)Gotesco Grand Central , Monumento Caloocan City

4)Tutuban Center Mall 1, Divisoria

Hi Countryboy, don't suggest that huge majority of us do not know how to use phone because in fact Philippines’ telecommunications industry remains the dynamic source of job and revenue for our country and some countries actually call Philippines as “the SMS capital of the world” where we actually maximize the use of phone not just by voice or call but through SMS too. Also, Offshore Call Centers in our country are sprouting like mushrooms and Philippines ranked first in this industry for the Asian Region.

Remember you're fiance or your future wife is also a Filipina and will likely would feel what I feel for my country. I know you are a good person and you are just saying your point but I am also saying that you can do it pleasantly. and it just so happens I am a patriot :)

by the way, congrats to Mylene's successful interview
