Just wondering if happenings in Afghanistan and the likely influx of refugees/asylum seekers would affect an already delayed processing times? I have empathy for innocent Afghans and what is happening there but just asking if the situation would affect processing times.

Processing times where?

Read my comments again buddy.

I read your comments, mack.

Are you talking about processing times at particular US consulates, embassies or USCIS service centers?   More info helps people understand what you are trying to ask about.

USCIS service centers precisely.

I haven't seen any announcements yet about large-scale refugee resettlement programs.  The UK has agreed to take 20,000 refugees.

This will likely be addressed in the coming weeks.
