Filing taxes as a new green card holder

Hi there -- TIA for any help you can provide.

My husband is a UK citizen and, all things being well, will immigrate to the US in a few months (certainly before the end of 2021). We are planning to file taxes as 'married, filing jointly' in 2022, for our 2021 income.

Because he is a student, and will continue to be a student for all of 2021, he will not have substantial US-based income in 2021. He will likely have some income from savings accounts and investments based in the US (reporting on the 1099 or whatever that form he'll receive from the investment company), and then he has his UK-based scholarship (it covers tuition + a small stipend), which he'll report on his 1044.

For his 2021 income does he need to report income from the scholarship for all of 2021, or only scholarship stipend income that he receives once he arrives in the US as an LPR?

Or, does anyone have an accountant they can recommend that often works with recent immigrants? Thanks!

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks, I had read through that and understood from it that his stipend would be taxable but not the rest of the scholarship.

However, my question is related to how much of the scholarship should be reported--the full amount he earned in 2021? (~$14k), or only the amount he earned while he was a US resident (likely around $2k USD)

Thanks!
