Hello, i am from Lebanon and the situation in my country is beyond disastrous. We do not have any electricity, nor gas, nor water, nor petrol to operate businesses, etc. Living circumstances are unbearable and my husband still lives there which really concerns me. Does anyone knows if those reasons are enough to request an expedite process to my husband’s i130?

thank you

Usually, expedites are based on hardships and emergencies to the petitioner (US citizen). But you are free to give it a try. You should have documentation to support your request.

Unfortunately this is the case for many places in the world. You can always try to request an expedite as it doesn’t cost anything extra. Good luck.

Would it affect our petition if we request an expedite process? In case we get denied the expedite request?

No. Give it a shot. No harm. I believe the situation in Lebanon worth trying.

Good luck.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

@Mel1995 - did you call USCIS to request to expedite your case and file documentation?

I'm curious since I also filed I 130 for my husband on 09/25/2021 and have only received the receipt notice. While I'm also concerned about the situation in Lebanon, I'm struggling as I'm the only adult in my household and am parenting 3 teens that live with me full-time. Having a spouse 6000 miles away is creating a financial hardship for me, as well as, additional stress and anxiety by not having someone here for emotional and practical support.

Any updates to your situation?

I'm reading about DQ and other things here on the forums and I want to be sure to file according to USCIS and/or NVC procedures.

Be careful using financial hardship as the reason for an expedite.  It may call into question your ability to sponsor him and his risk of becoming a public charge.

Also, here it looks a bit like you're fishing for reasons for an expedite (civil unrest?  financial hardship?)......

I make well above 125% of the poverty guidelines for my family size. I'm aware of the concerns over mentioning finances in this process. I have 3 of my 4 children living with me full-time - as USCIS decides on a case by case basis, I am looking to make an argument for expedition based on humanitarian reasons.

If you have personal experience with this, please share. I'm well aware of the concerns for listing "financial hardship".
