About sending I-129F package..

Hello everyone. I have a question:

My wife sent our I-129F package to Nebraska Service Center instead of sending it to Chicago. I called USCIS call center and representative told me to wait that Nebraska office either will forward it to Chicago or will send back to my wife. Rep. didn't know anything about how long it takes to do this.

So this has happened 2 weeks ago. Does anyone have an idea how long do we have to wait before we get something solid going on? Or do we have to apply for the new one? As you all know it is SOOOOOOO irritating to wait.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Anothe VJ member had this happen and it took 16 days for a NOA1 to be generated. Then you must wait for USCIS to notify you. Depending on the amount of packets received at Nebraska your may timeline may vary.

Naturalization

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

Thank you very much. We are hoping to get a reply soon. Otherwise we will go on with CR-1 (which we got the NOA-1 on May 15 2007) considering about the timelines for the visas. It is way much better for us to go with CR-1 since i can get the green card without AOS there in US.

One more question: How come people know their case is touched?

MOst likely, your petition will get to the right service center, which should be CSC. If it gets sent with the other I129Fs from NSC to CSC, it might not immediately be recognized as a K3 until someone at CSC actually looks at it.

The NOA1 would be when they look at it and see it's a K3.

Sounds like you would want the CR1 anyway. If you want to work, drive, etc -it seems like the way to go. Especially if you're waiting a few extra weeks already.

One more question: How come people know their case is touched?

There is a post in the May and June K3 filers thread from supernova who made the same mistake. They just got their NOA1 for the 129F, and they got an MSC number, which means it is going in the right direction and some in Nebraska directed it correctly.

About the touch, when you get your NOA1s, you create an online portfolio at the USCIS website (www.uscis.gov) and you add your case(s) to it. When the last update date changes, you know that your case was touched by someone, somewhere for some reason and the barcode was scanned. The status does not necassarily change and you don't necessarily get an email upate.

Also, please add a timeline as the data helps other members.
