What a waste of paper....

My ROC packet was probably 1/10 of yours (2 years worth of bank statements?! sheesh...) and I got approved without an interview.

Not sure why you need to send so many mortgage docs, CC statements, and months worth of other bills. Most recent month in each case should be enough if you must send your pest control bill.

- our marriage license --> I don't think I included this; it is not list as required evidence in the instructions. They already know you are married; they have your entire AOS file.

At some states that is the same document and it would be needed. Make sure that the license is what you need to send or you actually want the marriage certificate.  If the license is the marriage certificate I would send it in.

A marriage license or certificate are not required for ROC. You are way past the point of having to prove that you got married; for ROC you have to prove you are living in marital union, so the focus is on evidence of living together and comingling of finances.

^^^ I work for a Federal Agency that has a workflow similar to USCIS. I guarantee this happens with regularity.

So good to know! That was my greatest concern which is why I created this post.

I-751 is about him. Not you.

I thought it was about both of us? I mean we are filing jointly and both sign, show proof of shared responsibilities, etc.

Just some feedback from my situation. In Feb 2020 I had an N-400 interview with an outstanding I-751. My I-751 file wasn't there, but the interviewer could see the details on her system, and made some comment like "wow, how many pages, jeez", and then at the end of the interview mentioned that it's going to take a long time to get to the I-751. My submission looked something like your picture above FYI. It then took a year and a half for my N-400 to be approved.

I don't know if the large size of the I-751 was the cause of the delay, but I've read subsequently that the N-400 interviewer may have to scan in documents, so perhaps my case delay was the interviewer balking at the job of scanning in all my pages and pages of evidence.

I'm just speculating that the mountains of evidence I provided was the cause of the delay, but just wanted to put another point of view about evidence out there. If I was to do it again, I'd likely provide 1 bank statement for every 6 months, and a curated selection of photos etc etc , rather than overwhelming them with massive amounts of evidence.

Good information! That is my greatest fear. When I started researching I wasn't too concerned because I assumed I would need minimal info but reading through these threads about having to send monthly statements etc made me panic.

I would say rather more than less, so you could minimize the chances for RFE and longer wait.

However, I'd suggest three points:

- No need for W-2 when tax transcripts are enough

- Select representative pictures, for example, big and memorable occasions, and put a brief description for each picture in the cover letter

- Arrange evidence by groups, for example, bills, home, pictures, and clearly segment in the cover letter

The point is to minimize the effort for the officer as much as possible, so they don't push it aside for later due to it "being too complicated." This is absolutely the officer's discretion to do that, so the easier you make it for them, the lower chance your case gets pushed aside.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I'll take out the W-2s for sure and will minimize as much as possible. Having too much for them to handle was my biggest concern.

It is a lot of documentation, yes, but it is documentation up to the point of the deed and mortgage.  Kind of like there's no need to submit W-2's if you're submitting the tax transcripts.  They would have never gotten the loan and house if they didn't already submit all of that other stuff (appraisal, closing statement, bill of sale, etc.)  It's part of the entire mortgage closing process.  The final piece of it all - the deed and mortgage - will weigh as heavily as the rest...just less paperwork to send.

I was wondering about this! It's my time buying a home so I didn't know which documents from the stack of paperwork we signed that day was actually the "important" ones lol I think I'll just send those two and maybe the home insurance proof to show we are both on it as well.

Thank you guys! Definitely eased my mind to condense a bit and send 4-5 statements a year and the  most recent one, and take out some of the fluff. I know it was a lot of paper and I didn't want to drown the USCIS agent working our case. One more question, should I have included a copy of his passport? He doesn't have a driver license / state ID so his only methods of identification are his green card (already added), social security, and passport.

A copy of his green card is the only identification that is required. Please stick to the documents listed in the I-751 instructions; they list very clearly what is required.

my wife takes her driving test on Aug 30..... but oh the stories i could tell you about the dps office in leon valley......😠 i hope once this is done we never have to see that godforsaken place ever again

OMG! Don't get me started on their "mega center" in Leon Valley lol and I moved out to Converse now and it's not any better :( If it's not too far from you, you should try the Boerne location once the "appt required" rule drops. Pre-Covid, they were usually not busy and you could be in and out within the hour!

I've tried convincing my husband to get his driver license but he says Texas drivers are crazy xD so no luck yet. Luckily though he's been working from home almost from the time he started working (12-2019, only went in person to work for like 3 months then shutdowns happened) so we haven't really had the need for him to drive yet.

boerne is a bit out of the way and it would basically require both of us to take off of work. we already have the appt so hopefully we dont get a donkey for the evaluation

just an update, wife passed the test. apparently all the practicing she did paid off, she said there were only 2 mistakes that were minor

she was so relieved.

so if your husband knows how to drive, it should be easy for him.

i figured in our case it also helps for the packet we are gonna send since we can show both DL with the same address
