There is a presidential proclamation that suspend entry into the United States of all noncitizens who were physically present in any of 33 countries during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States.  The one that applies here is  Presidential Proclamation 10143 (Schengen Area, United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, and South Africa). Amsterdam is in the schengen.   However,

  • certain travelers whose entry would be in the national interest, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their designees.

The Secretary of State has determined that the entry of the following travelers is in the national interest for purposes of exceptions to all four proclamations. The Secretary may revise these national interest determinations as circumstances warrant.

One category of travelers that are automatically considered for National Interest Exception (NIE) at the Port of Entry and do not require advance approval of a NIE from an embassy or consulate is fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens and their dependents (K visas).

My fiancée comes this week. She flys from Bangkok through Amsterdam then her POE is Atlanta.   I’m freaking out that she either isn’t going to be let in or she is going to have problems that she can’t communicate out of just because of a layover.

I think with everything I’ve read she is ok but I don’t know. What do y’all think?  Anyone have a number you think I can call and verify?

read the entire proclamations for NIE as you post ,   she is exempt thru NIE

These three categories of travelers are automatically considered for National Interest Exception (NIE) at the Port of Entry and do not require advance approval of a NIE from an embassy or consulate.

  • immigrants of all categories (not applicable to Proclamation 10199, which only covers nonimmigrant travel);
  • fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens and their dependents (K visas);

I know it says that. I’m asking if anyone has done it or had experience with it. Or knows who to call to verify. I’d hate for my fiancée to travel and then not be allowed in the country.

Whether an airline boards her or not  depends on the airline.  There lots of stories of airlines not boarding aliens and even citizens who had the required documents.  Even if you got the CEO of the airline in a Thailand or Netherlands or where ever the airline is head quartered,  to promise to board her there is no guarantee.

If it is me raveling on the K-1, I am 99.9 percent certain I will be boarded.  But that’s just me.

And if she is boarded and lands in the USA, there is no guarantee CBP won’t send her back.

Several hundred have transited through a covid travel restricted country?  Ok that’s awesome. I’m looking for those people and am interested in their experience.

Airlines have complete info for each county's international travel requirements, go to your airline's site> my flight and put your ticket#,  then the destination country and read the requirements. You may have to fill forms for Amsterdam also due to covid-19.

She will need also a 72 hours PCR test to enter the plane.

I called the airlines and check the sites. I’m still concerned they won’t let her travel. I was just looking for anyone who has done it to learn  about their experience.

I flew through Poland and it was ok. But I didn't leave transit zone it's also important,. If you leave a transit zone then you need a transit visa. They can't reject because in passport there is a NIE and you just need PCR tests

If you can't leave "transit zone", like they are saying, be careful in the airport. I was in Amsterdam and I had to leave to get my suitcase, and then get back into the airport, because my other flight was in a different airline. This was pre-covid.

I think they can see this info if they need to leave a transit zone from tickets, you can always write to the airport and ask about details before you fly
