A Harvard professor claimed on Twitter that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s decision to wave the American flag at a parade on Saturday explained why the Taliban was winning in Afghanistan.

 

 

Tom Nichols, a professor at the US Naval War College and Harvard Extension School who writes for USA Today and The Atlantic, claimed that Noam’s American flag parade was “stupid, self-destructive, fake patriotism.”

 

Nichols posted a photo of Noem’s parade on Twitter with the caption, “Meanwhile, as Kabul falls.” He deleted the tweet, but then reposted it, explaining his reasoning.

 

“I removed it because it was too short. I wanted to make the point even more straight, as I did here. A charlatan like Noem is riding through a superspreader event with a flag while Kabul falls Is America, 2021: Insecure, self-destructive, fake patriotism,” claimed Nichols.

On another forum, I literally read someone who blamed Kabul and the delta variant on Trump.  The stupidity never ends, apparently.

Last year, people in this forum were calling for an exit. When Pompeo met with the Taliban last year, we knew the handwriting was on the wall.

 

You can fault Biden for an ungraceful  exit and misrepresentation on the ability to hold the Taliban out of Kabul, but would it really make a difference? We are leaving, the Taliban out-waited us.
