Apologies if a lot of these have been asked already, I'm not entirely sure where to look and I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment too. I've just got the letter saying to schedule an interview and so on, we got the email maybe 2 weeks ago, so I've been trying to get everything I need. I've a few questions if anyone can help:

Birth Certificate - I've sent off for a 'full' one with both parents names on it, as I only have a short one at the moment. It however says 'yourself, your spouse' on the 'Required Documents' page. Do I need to bring my fiance's (he is in the US) birth certificate too, or am I misunderstanding?

Photos - Are these the same as current UK passport photos? Can I head to the post office and just get two colour prints?

Name - My name on my birth certificate is what I was born with, but it changed some 15-20 years ago with my mother marrying. Do I bring their marriage certificate? Is that enough? Does it matter?

Evidence of Support - My partner has had a hard time with jobs through Covid, and has recently gotten one within the last few weeks. Is this enough? Can he email me the form and I print it out, or does he need to submit it separately?

Fees - How much are the fees that I believe you submit with the courier service business? I printed my medical questionnaire out and it says on there something about a visa fee as well, are these separate?

Place of Living - On the DS-160 I need to state where I am going to live, and currently this is a little difficult with my partner still searching for an apartment. All his letters currently go to his parents house and he's suggested I just use that address for now. Should I wait and do the form when he gets a place, or go with his parents address for the time being and explain it if it changes?

No, all documents are your documents, except for the Affidavit of Support (I-134) and proof of your fiancé’s income.

Did he adopt you or do a deed poll to change your name? I’ve honestly forgotten what happened when others had no proof of name change. Perhaps get an affidavit signed by your Mum stating when and why your name changed and anything you can think of to support it.

Emailed is accepted. An employer letter stating the job and yearly salary will be needed. Any pay slips received in the new job are useful. Perhaps a 2019 tax transcript (pre-covid) would be good to show income before covid job losses, etc. London is not very hard on K1 affidavits of support. You just have to convince the officer you will not become a public charge. It is somewhat subjective. If you have savings, bring evidence to sweeten the deal to convince  him you will be okay without going on welfare.

I think these are still accurate. K1 fiancé basic fees:

$510 Fiancé Petition (USCIS).

£55 police certificate (ACRO)

£350 medical (Knightsbridge) pay at the appointment

$265 visa fee (Dept of State/Embassy) pay online when booking interview

$30 or $0 (Courier) Online pay.  Home delivery is $30.

Enter USA and marry-

$1215 AOS/EAD/AP (USCIS).

Use the parent address. If you get a new address, tell them at the interview.

Thank you so much for the replies, I feel a lot more relieved for it!

I was not adopted by him, but I figured I'd take their marriage certificate with me to show why my name changed and all my documents are in this name already too, so I'm thinking it will be fine but I'll take extra things in case (something from my mother for example). I do not currently have any savings and I've not worked in the last several years, which worries me a bit, but I'm hoping the focus is on what my fiance provides there.

I also have a few more questions:

Vaccination - It states 'with original certification', what does this mean? I have printed paperwork from my GP surgery with what I currently have, but I'm not sure what it's asking for there beyond that.

AOS - I've been so focused on the K1 process that the 'what next' has slipped my mind a bit. I assume I have to do this once I'm married, and I extend my '90 days' into I read somewhere 2ish years? Does this process require me to return to the UK at any point?

Your job status doesn’t matter. If you had a bunch of cash saved, you could sponsor yourself in London. It could influence the officer making a subjective decision that this bloke should be fine. But it is the US fiancé that is the focus.

It means you have to bring your shot proofs from the GP surgery,NHS printout, “little red book” jab record,  Boots, etc. You can’t just walk in and say “I’ve had all my shots”.  My list is was hand written out on a sheet of paper by a nurse who signed it and stamped the practice name and address on it. Most records now are computerized and can be printed out. The printouts don’t have to be signed or have a practice name.

The visa clinic will take your word for having chickenpox. No official record is required. That gets the varicella jab waived. Do get all your shots before the medical even though a K1 can get a visa with zero shots. You will be signed off for your adjustment of status. Done with immigration doctors Otherwise you will have the hassle of going to a new doctor in the US  and spending $$$.

Adjustment of Status is applying for your greencard (permanent resident status) in the US after marriage. They are very slow right now. Your first greencard will expire two years after issue. Then you have to apply for a 10 year greencard which is even slower. It all happens through USCIS in the USA.
