Hello, my fiancé has an interview coming up and I wanted to ask what financial documents he needs. I filled out the I864 just in case and gave him my 2 most recent tax transcripts. Is an affidavit of support needed for K1 interview at the US embassy in Ghana? Thanks in advance for your help! ☺️

Firstly, you filled out the wrong form. It’s I-134 for the K1 interview. Secondly, the consulate should have sent you a list of documents to bring to the interview. In addition to tax transcripts, you need to show evidence of your current income such as employment letter and pay stubs.

Thanks for your reply, according to what we received they did not request the I-34 form.

The I-864 is NEVER used for a K-1 interview.  They will, likely, ask for the I-134.

An I-864 will be needed when applying for Adjustment of Status later.

you need to read USCIS instructions as I 134 is always needed for K1

since your interview (hope they did not cancel it)  the fiancee should attend / CO will put the case in AP (CEAC will say refused) till the embassy gets the needed documents

you should have recd a complete list of needed documents

like the criminal report

I 134

IRS transcripts

or 1040 and W2

and most recent pay stubs

original birth certificate

and any others the embassy wanted

u didn't get this?

They are not requesting we bring form I-134. We have the tax transcripts so things should be fine. Just curious from anyone that’s had an interview recently the financial docs they asked for. Thanks

Current annual income is what Consulate Officers use to determine ability to support a new immigrant.  Current annual income is not determined by tax records unless the sponsor is self-employed.  I would take an I-134 and supporting documents.  Good luck. .

When you say they are you referring to the embassy? In the information we received from them it does not list this form anywhere.

I guess it’s better to have more than you need so maybe I’ll do the I134 to air on the side of caution. Thanks all
