All sound OK?

So we're heading off to get married tomoro and I'm taking along my AOS package so we can send it off as soon as we have the wedding certificate in our hands! Does everything sound ok? I'm just applying for AOS only, not EAD or AP ... I have ...

- 1-485 form

- Copy of NOA2, front and back

- Copy of my birth certificate

- Copy of my passport - bio page and the k1 visa page

- Copy of I-94, front and back

- 4 pages of G-325A

- I-693A, sealed

- I-864 form

- W2s for the last 3 years

- Tax return transcripts for the last 3 years

- Letter from section commander confirming verification of monthly income

- 2 passport photos

We will write the check when we send it off and of course we'll have the marriage cert. Does this all sound ok? Is there anything we're missing out? Do I we need to send this to the Chicago address? Thanks

Sounds good. Also, if either of you have been married before, include a copy of the divorce certificate(s). Yes, you send your package to the Chicago Lockbox.

Double check everything that's listed in the guides in case you did miss something:

This might be a stupid comment, but I just want to make sure:

You're going to take the signed marriage license and have it registered with the appropriate authorities directly after the ceremony, then send in the certificate they give you? I know some people get confused between the marriage license (what you obtain before the marriage & sign along with the officiant) and the marriage certificate (the certified copy that is registered by the county and given to you afterward).

I just don't want to see you get an RFE- or have your marriage not be registered properly. I am sure you know exactly what you're doing though!!

I'm planning on sending copies of our prior divorce decrees (even though we sent them with the petition). The AOS guide here suggests it - we have them readily available, so I'd rather send it and have them not need it than get RFEd.

I chose not to send our divorce decrees because they already have them. The guides here do say that you should submit thenm. However, I followed the instructions on www.uscis.gov. They did not mention anything about resubmitting the divorce decrees.

I better not get an RFE.

Do you know if the marriage certificate can be issued on the same day of your wedding ceremony? You can call the local county clerk-recorder or your officiating person or whoever is concerned. It pays to know ahead of time.

thanks guys yea - we're gonna pay a lil extra for the minister to submit all the documents to the county clerk recorder the day after our wedding so that we can just pick it up that day. We were told that once they receive everything from the minister, they can issue the certified marriage cert straight away. As we're having our wedding in vegas, i've been told that it can take a month to get the cert if we dont pick it up ourselves, if this happens then we'll send in the license or something as we'd rather get a RFE than have to pay over $1000!!!

If you came on a K-1 its not necessary. You were already required to prove you are divorced to get a K-1 after all. I doesn't hurt to include it of course, but you won't get an RFE for not including it. Having a K-1 visa is proof enough.

Just a tidbit of information about anyone wanting to get an immediate CERTIFIED copy of their marriage. We looked into getting married in Reno (family there), but they have to "process" it....read: a few weeks.

Instead we drove the 30 minutes to Carson City, got the license, married (by a very nice judge) and had 4 (count 'em 4 CERTIFIED copies in less than 30 minutes. They even asked if we'd be moving to the UK, cuz then there's another form to fill out and have the US government submit evidence that the marriage took place, that needs to be sent to the UK (or other foreign country). Very knowledgeable, friendly and speedy.

So, if anyone wants to get that Certified copy within minutes of their marriage........consider getting married in Carson City, Nevada. The copies are only $10 ea, how cool is that?

Well its cool I guess if you want spend an extra $30 where you could have just spent $10 and sent a 5cent photocopy to USCIS with your AOS application.
