I received a message from Lawfully app, your case is in trial. I applied n400 in Aug 2020

What is that meaning?

I've never heard of an N-400 case going to trial. Like, before a court, judge, and jury and all that? Call the app creators. It's their product, so they would know. I've also never heard of the Lawfully app. But I don't own a smart phone.

Check official USCIS site for official status. Hopefully it says nothing about a trial.

https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

I have never heard a N-400 application going to trial.

Did you file online? If so check status there. If not, create an account, add your receipt number and read official updates from there. Lawfully app is a third party.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Looked it up, and it appears to be some sort of service/app that attempts to predict the timing of USCIS processes.  Good Luck especially with Covid19.  Regardless, it might be a little helpful instead of checking the USCIS website, but it appears the paid side of the app may not be worth it.

As to the other, I also have never heard of an N400 going to trial.  Maybe this is the phrase the app uses to say it is ready for an interview.

Trying to figure out why anyone would pay a third party site to give you information that may or may not be better than you can get elsewhere, but that in any case you have no control over and does not actually make a difference to you. Especially if it is not even accurate enough to make, for example, travel plans around.

But hey, if anyone has ideas for an app I can start that people will pay me for when I don’t have to do much effort on getting the info I pass on to them and am not held to account for its  accuracy … let me know! I like the business model as a seller !!

Screenshot someone posted above was asking if the paid subscription was worth it

I still never understand why people sign up and give their data for these various apps when uscis publicly has all the info

then wonder why they get weird spam calls (“but how did the spam caller know I had a case at uscis?”)

I think the app has a free version and a premium paid version.

Also never understood the appeal of an app when it's very easy to get updates straight from the official USCIS website. Seems to me like, in the weeks and months that people wait before USCIS takes action on their applications, the app just sits there in their phones, harvesting who knows what kind of information in the background.

Oh, I had it. I guess I didn’t know there was a paid version (not that I would have paid for it). It’s an app that uses some weird algorithms to predict the timing of your case. But now that I think about it, it is sort of risky to give that information.

I am in the same boat, I guess I can delete now since it only estimates when my case will get to interview and completion. I see no other benefits for the app now that I saw this, guess I just made someone else rich with my data.

I think the wording "in trial" is due to poor English skills of the app developers. I'm guessing, but I think it should probably read "in process"
