Can I file N-400 while I am traveling oversees?

The N-400 form asks you about absences and total time spent outside the USA.  Seems like quite the conundrum when you are currently outside the USA to list your current trip.  I don’t know what date you would enter for the date of return.

If your current trip is under 24 hours, seems fine since absences under 24 hours don’t count and aren’t to be listed.

In general, an applicant for naturalization must file his or her application for naturalization with the state or service district that has jurisdiction over his or her place of residence. The applicant must have resided in that location for at least three months prior to filing.

Accordingly, the applicant’s residence is generally the applicant’s actual physical location regardless of his or her intentions to claim it as his or her residence.

Less than 6 months out of the country you do not have to overcome presumption of continuous residency and yes  USCIS says you can file
