Hey, thanks for reading this.

My fiancé currently studies in the US and has done for the past 4-5 years. She has an internship coming up and is expecting/hoping for a job offer (sponsorship) to come at the end of it.

We are trying to find out whether it would hinder (or benefit) her H1-B visa application if we get married before the application.

We think it would be simpler to marry before and then I would eventually get a H4 visa, but we don't want her being married to negatively affect her application in any way.

Any thoughts, advice, or similar experience? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou.

FYI, I have moved your post to a different forum, as you do not qualify for the K1 fiance visa, which is only possible if the petitioner is a US citizen. As far as I understood from your post, both you and your fiance are foreign nationals, and your fiance is (presumably) on a student visa in the US, hoping to get an H1B visa.

As far as I know, marriage will have no negative impact on her H1B application, and your eventual H4 application, but more experienced posters will hopefully chime in soon.

Apologies. I understood that the forum categories meant all posts were stored separately.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.

While forums are separate,  there is only one forum that is the most appropriate for your question and that is where the thread should be posted.

YMMV

If you are a US citizen, it's better to marry and adjust, than marry and wait until she gets an H1B. The H1B depends on a lottery, which means that if she does not "win" the lottery, she would have to leave the job. Adjusting is taking a long time, meaning that if you decided to adjust if she does not "win" the lottery, she could be unemployed for a while.
