Hi, I'm in the process of getting my Visa (K1) reissued by the London Embassy - I got my original Visa just 3 days before the travel ban and it expired in August last year.

I've just last week completed a new medical and I've filled out the form three days ago requesting a re-issuance on the grounds of the covid travel ban.

Has anyone done this process and could you tell me, how long should it take to get a response, do the embassy treat this as a new appointment or is it just to update the passport/white envelope etc?

Thank you for you help :)

Good luck. I haven’t heard of a k1 being reissued after it was denied. As a k1 visa holder you were able to travel to the US. I hope someone can help you out.

Hi, It wasn't denied, I got my K1 Visa on March 14th 2020 - days later the travel ban was put in place - and in August of last year it expired before I could use it.
On section 3.12 of the Visa FAQ's it details how to get the Visa reissued. So i've already completed a new medical and I'm just waiting now for the embassy to get back to me. I just wondered if anyone else has done this ins London and would know what the process is.

Not from the UK directly.  They would have needed to quarantined in a non travel banned country first.

YMMV

Yes I know. I don’t interpret it as a ban when there is a way around it. 2 weeks in Mexico would most likely have been easier then letting the visa expire . I hope it’s an easy “fix” for the OP.

Doesn't matter what you interpret.   If the consulates interpreted like you, then there would never have been a need for action such as Milligan v Pompeo

The definition of a ban is to legally prohibit or forbid something from happening. From what I’ve seen many people who were “banned” still made in in the US…which goes against the true definition of a ban..

Please review the presidential proclamations and see if the word "ban" was used anywhere in the actual text.

I can read it, but I’m not sure how any of this helps the OP?

Unlike expired petitions, expired visas cannot be reinstated or renewed.  It would be, at the discretion of the embassy, an entirely new interview.  You will also need new police reports.
