Thanks to those who pointed out that there is no need to disclose additional financial information beyond salary if the amount of salary alone is sufficient.

Only the Consulate Officer can determine if the income is sufficient....based on his/her discretion...and the information provided....sometimes income information isn't enough.   Good Luck.

No one has mentioned providing info that is not required.

And - it isn't just salary, is it?  You will be providing supporting documentation, including details about your taxes, etc.  And when you do the I-864 and the subsequent interview to AOS, you will be providing commingled financial information related to banking, property, insurance, and other assets from your first list.

So yes, when going through immigration, you are required to submit personal information.  No way around that.

Also, we're asked to provide our fingerprints, photographs, passport info, original birth certificate, etc. If any one or more of these is missing from an application and the applicant fails to provide the missing info, it's an automatic denial. If you consent to providing your fingerprints and birth cert and passport and stuff like that, then the government already knows a lot about you AND can find out more about you.

If you can easily disclose an annual income that well exceeds requirements than N/A the rest.  I only should showed total income and made available supporting tax documentation.  However, I was prepared to show all that they might demand.

Lol, the tone in some of the responses.

As for those who are  eager to give out any kind of information without ever stopping to think about whether or not it's actually necessary in respect to the current situation—your life, your choice.

if you think that the Federal government doesn't already KNOW all of this information, you are delusional.

So providing it to them voluntarily, should not be an issue.

Does anyone else feel the I-134 is asking for too much information?

It asks for:

  1. Annual income
  2. Balance in savings and checking accounts
  3. Value of other personal property
  4. Market value of all stocks and bonds
  5. Amount of life insurance
  6. Real estate value

This is very private information and I don't feel comfortable answer all of the questions.

Do we actually need to fill in all of this?  Have any of you omitted certain items without issue?

Actually this form is a non binding agreement you sign.  I had a Consular Officers in Philippines tell me it not needed due to it being a non binding agreement.   The US Embassy in Philippines the last few years hardly even asks for it.

But the I-864 is binding....and WILL be required for adjustment of status....and it asks financial questions.

Are you self-employed? On the I-134, I'm seeing instructions to include tax information only if the applicant is self-employed.

  • A copy of your last income federal tax return filed, or a report of commercial rating concern (if self-employed)

The latter (report of commercial rating concern) is for self-employed. The former (copy of last income federal tax return) is for the rest.

Where did you find this information? Here is the instruction from the latest I-134 form from uscis.gov:

Quote

If self-employed, I have attached a copy of my last income tax return or report of commercial rating con cern which I certify to be true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
