to apply for a job

You can start working before receiving the SSN. If the employer uses E-verify then the employer can select "Awaiting Social Security number." https://www.e-verify.gov/faq/my-employee-applied-for-a-social-security-number-ssn-but-has-not-yet-received-it-what-should-i An example of working legally before receiving SSN:

Also: https://www.twc.texas.gov/news/efte/employees_without_ssns.html

It is certainly legal to hire someone who is authorized to work in this country, but who does not have a social security number or who chooses not to disclose it.

The CBP-endorsed Immigrant Visa is your temporary I-551 document. You can show that to your new employer: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/temporary-i-551-stamps-and-mrivs

No need to wait for GC. You can apply at  a SSA office with your passport with the immigrant visa on it.

If you applied for your SSN in the DS260 you don't need to apply again in-person.

Both GC and SSN can take 120 days.

Yes I did applied for both, but I am finding it hard to get a job as they are wanting my SSN in other to offer me a job, The e-verify I don't understand how that works with the employer, please advice

Employers have 90 days to file your I9.

Many will not hire without proof of SSN due to that legality so you may have to go in person.

Or you could just wait to work until you get it.

Up to you.

Just bring your passport if the green card doesn't arrive on time. The stamped immigrant visa serves as evidence of permanent residency for 1 year from the date of entry and can be used for anything a green card can: work, getting a SSN, getting a driver's license, international travel, etc.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

We are in the same boat with SSN and we were also told to just go in person. My husband arrived in June and we still don't have his. To get his GC we created a new account with USCIS and he sent a message. They sent the GC within a week. As far as a job he finally found one that would allow him to work while he waits for the SSN. Typically they need a letter from SSN stating this is an issue in their end but he is still eligible for one.
