Argentina - Adoption Decree

Hi. I have an issue :D

I filed for K1 in Argentina, I'm the beneficiary. I'm only missing the interview which is on the 18th, but my problem is that I'm adopted. I was adopted at only 20 days old and here in Argentina we have something called "adopcion plena" which means if I request my official birth certificate, my adoptive parents show up and not my biological ones.

I went to request my official adoption papers but the office is closed due to covid and they have not responded to emails yet. Should I move my interview date?

What happens to people who have no way to get their adoption papers, or even people who aren't aware they're adopted?

Why do you need adoption paperwork for a K-1????

agree

if Argentina does adoption as you say,  the birth certificate is all you need

I'm adopted, so idk... I didn't know how to disclose I'm adopted in the forms I filed. The list of documents required said I need my adoption decree, right?

Edit: When I was born, my name was different. It was changed when I was adopted. But like I said, if I request my birth certificate online, I receive one with my current name and my adoptive parents...

That's the only one you need.  You DO NOT NEED Adoption paperwork for K-1.  Where is your fiance(e) to help you understand the paperwork needed to file?

This came off super judgmental and rude.

Thanks for the information, but there was no need to respond like that.

Edit: I simply got confused because they ask you all legal name changes you've had. Since I technically had one when I was a baby (through adoption), I thought that counted as well. I couldn't find more information about it, so I asked here. That's all there is to it.

wow ,  doesn't quite seem fair

as far as interview ,   attend on the scheduled date.

If they really insist that the adoption papers are needed the CO will give you the opportunity to get them and send in to embassy

the CEAC site to check status of your case will say refused /  which just means they put it on hold til papers are received

good luck to you in all things
