It is so unclear how this works. Our current appointment has been scheduled by NVC for April 1st. I checked earlier today what dates are available if we have to miss it, and the system showed me March 21. Then I checked again and was shown June 1st. And checking just now I'm shown April 19th...

Hey, ovb! Have your mom applied for a Schengen visa now? Have you, guys, rescheduled interview in Poland for a later date?

Also, if you don't mind sharing, why did you choose Italy over Greece for a Schengen visa?

Typically you cannot apply for visas outside your home country, unless you have permanent residency in another country (i.e. Green card here in the US). Since your dad only has a tourist visa, he won't be able to apply for Schengen in the US.

Unfortunately, you are correct on that.

Can you tell us more about your case?:)

Have you considered Kazakhstan? At least you won't need a visa to go there...

I'm pretty sure Kazakhstan has already made clear they will not accept Russian applicants. Also, congrats on having the expedite done through NVC! Have you scheduled your appointment yet? I'm very confused what expediting does if NVC already processes K1s as quickly as possible and there are visibly no more appointments in Warsaw until August. I would like to expedite our case as well and am interested if the appointments are actually filled or if they're 'reserved' for emergencies (or will slowly become available as time passes).

Our case is IR5 and taking forever.. I noticed, that K1 cases are getting processed much quicker.

So, yeah, probably wouldn't make much difference now since his Schengen visa is expiring in a couple of hours...

Hello, friends!

As an update, we've emailed NVC to expedite my dad's immigrant case in Warsaw, Poland over a week ago due to his preexisting condition and fragile health. We were approved this morning...

Unfortunately, his Schengen is expiring literally today...

You all were right regarding reapplying/extending Schengen visa from US. It seems to be impossible for non-residents... I have contacted a senator, but the hope isn't big..

I wonder if it is a good idea traveling to Russia right now and trying to do a Schengen from there? I'm afraid Schengen won't be ready in time, or Martial Law gets implemented, or they just stop letting people out of the country... What do you, guys, think?

Also, if he does go to Russia for the visa... 1. Which embassy should we apply for a Schengen? Is Greece still a good option? 2. Is it a good idea for me, a US Citizen, or my sister, a Green Card holder, to accompany him in Russia and out of Russia?

You can definitely apply for a Russian visa yourself and accompany your father. As a US citizen you get a multi-visa that is valid for 3 years and I have recently contacted the agency that processes these visas and I was told that there have been no changes since a situation in Ukraine, and you can still get a tourist visa to Russia. I am actually getting a Russian visa for my father right now. Typical wait time is 2-4 weeks and costs around $550(depends on which company you choose).

In my opinion, it is better to get your father's visas renewed so that you don't have any problems during his interview in Warsaw. Don't have information on what Schengen country to apply for, sorry. I can only help with visas to Russia.

An update for those Russians that had their package transferred from Moscow embassy to Warsaw Poland embassy.

We have a priority date of 6/21/2019
The embassy in Poland notified us they had our package on December 16, 2021
We got our interview confirmation letter on March 14, 2022

The interview was scheduled for April 12, 2022

Notification of the interview date arrived in approximately 3 months
The actual interview date was approximately 4 months from date of the embassy getting the package from Moscow

We had to reschedule the interview today because of all the mess and additional requirements due to the RussioUkrainin war and the next available date for reschedule was August 31.

Thank you for the update! I’m curious about everyone else’s priority dates. Ours is Feb 16, 2020, IR5. We are still waiting for the interview date.

Hi Phoenix8489! Yes, we did apply for a Schengen via Italy. There was no particular reason in choosing Italy vs Greece. It was what the travel agency/ visa centre recommended based on their experience of which countries seemed to be giving visas "more easily" so to speak. We applied for a multi entry visa. We are told the embassy is taking about 2 weeks to process it. And, no, we have not rescheduled the interview in Poland for a later date yet. I called the embassy twice, and both times I was told that I cannot reschedule the interview for a later date until after my originally scheduled date. We are originally scheduled for April 1, so I can reschedule this interview for a later date on April 2.  How about you? When did they schedule your dad's interview?

Hi StevenInAtlanta! Thank you for sharing your case. Were you actually able to reschedule for a later date already? Without having to wait until after your April 12 originally scheduled interview? And what is your visa type if you don't mind sharing? Thank you.

My fiancé said the visa center in Moscow need flights and hotels to apply for the Schengen visa, we can’t decide that before we can schedule the interview right? How you solved these issues?

If anyone is struggling getting a medical appointment for an immigrant visa in Moscow in a timely fashion, turns our that can be sped up. My mom called the US authorized health centre on March 14, and they told her that the earliest she can be scheduled is for April 14th. Today she visited them in person. It turned out they had plenty of cancellations, and they took her right in. Additionally they do have a waitlist, and if someone doesn't show up they can being you in with one hour notice.

That's correct, you do need flights and hotels to apply for the Schengen visa. We applied via a travel agency. My understanding is that they do all these bookings (for an additional fee, of course) in the country whose Schengen you are requesting and then are cancelling them at some point. I don't know how else you can get a Schengen visa. Poland is not issuing any tourist visas to Russian citizens at this point anyways, so you still have to go via a different country.

Hey! Great to hear your mom got her medical exam done! When did she apply for Schengen and have she heard anything back from them? Do you think you guys, might be able to make it to the interview on 4/1/22?

My dad received Interview Invitation literally 1 hour ago for 4/29/22! We just need to get him Schengen, so he is probably traveling back to Russia any day now.
