Thanks. My original one expires July 10th, so if I need it before that I am good I'm just making sure to have an up to date one for "whenever" we get our interviews

I just extended my lease because I have extended my expected timeframe for the visa to at least August or September.

It's just so heartbreaking. We should have been celebrating our IL's this month. Instead we are now having to re-arrange everything, and push back our dates a few months. I hope that we are not having to wait until September 😢

For me the worst part is I will probably lose the scholarship for my kids schools. Which is a lot!

That's horrible!!! Is there any way for you to expedite? Even through the pandemic it makes no sense why they are taking so long to get through our cases (we were supposed to be priorities)

I think I expended all of the energy I can for now. Just gonna wait and see what happens. Today was a very rough day for us.

Not at all! I’m in Ottawa and I used a third party service through a company called Commissionaires. They told me it could take up to 4 weeks, and to call them if I don’t get it by then, but it’s usually around 2 weeks. Last year it took about 10 calendar days and was a lot faster- so 15 days isn’t that big of a jump even though I was getting anxious!

i don’t want this to sound like I’m discouraging you but a heads up that the expedite@ account is averaging 3-4 week response time and then another 2 weeks from the consulate if they don’t automatically reject it. I’m not saying it’s not worth trying, I feel like scholarships for your kids is such a unique financial situation that it should qualify but…I’ve seen families get turned away for a lot of reasons that I thought made sense.

 You know what would be great... if we could just go be with our other half’s and wait it out in the states with them. I honestly would be as upset about the back logs as much! The fact that if something happened to my husband and he got sick or was in the hospital it would take me at lest 2-3 days to fly down as I’d need a covid test before I could fly there.

My wife got into a car accident and they denied the request to expedite. She was mostly fine, no life threatening injuries, but that shows you that they set a really high bar for expediates. Not being allowed to see your spouse after such a traumatic event is honestly cruel but thats my personal opinion. But even if it gets approved, like @aurmorr mentioned, it takes weeks to get processed and in many cases ends up taking the same amount of time anyway. I think the stat is that less than 2% of expediate requests get approved. Sad but true. And lol just saw the msg posted on FBK. I also see that as a way of telling us to stop messaging them because although they are prioritizing us, they never promised to send IL every month. 😭 Although public pressure sometimes works, I feel like in this case it might do the opposite and itll just annoy them and make them stall, especially if the pressure is coming from the beneficiaries aka the Canadians. I think if the pressure came from the petitioners or our American spouses through congressmen or however it works it would be more fruitful but I also wouldnt put much stock in that.

Come on Montreal consulate, you can do this!  Please open up the interview slots for CR1/IR1 for June interviews!

To who? Are they manual schedules? That’s the only thing that makes sense at this point. This forum should be alight with comments- 

if they’re manual schedules, they could be rebooking appointments that were cancelled? Even then though we still have VJ members who have cancelled and are awaiting rebooking.

 

edit: oh my god they deleted the post from their Facebook. It had SO many comments on it. This proves the accounts are absolutely monitored, and they KNOW that people are upset. Let’s see what happens next. 
 

edit edit: it’s still there, it’s just hidden from the consulate’s timeline and you have to be sneaky to access it. They really don’t want people knowing we are upset huh
