In Canada? No, it’s free.

The tests I did in the US were also free at Walgreens.

We didn't know we could get free tests in the US. My husband has been paying USD 160 per visit on the test. Thanks for this, we will look into it for next time, should it still be required.

OH NO! I'm so so so sorry to hear that...next time (if ever) you know there are free options.

This is news to me too.

My wife lives in Florida and I live in Ontario. I have been paying around $200 CAD both ways.

What options are even free in Canada? I know I can go to a hospital and get a free COVID test but they can't guarantee turn around time, and most hospitals or testing locations results document doesnt have all the required information requested by airlines/CDC.

For Walgreens, their COVID tests are free for Canadian citizens who are neither US Citizens/Residents?  And do the results document produced by Walgreens actually meet Canada entry requirements?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention because it can definitely safe us all a lot of stress and money haha.

Thanks

Yes I would love to know too about free options in Canada. I know personally that Pearson airport here in Mississauga does free test. My wife is also planning to travel and on her way back, we were thinking to go to the airport before 72 hours of her departure. But if there are other options too, I would love to know. Thanks

Walgreens let me do the PCR test for free, and I'm Canadian and neither a US citizen/resident. I filled out everything online, and showed my Canadian passport at my appointment.

The border accepted everything (all testing is done by LabCorp - which is one of the biggest testing companies in the US). My results took about 48 hours.

I got to know that you need insurance to get free test done at Walgreens

I believe the last day for the free test at Pearson is July 11th. I wanted to do this option too. I am traveling back to the US in 3 weeks

Thank you for this information. This is a big help for me for my future travel back to Canada as I was planning to bring also my US parents who are fully vaccinated for them to see our place in Canada.

Yeah. I keep checking the Pearson Testing Webpage daily. The service ends on July 9th for travel dates up until July 11th. They report  the following:

I came across this pharmacy in the GTA a few days ago and they do PCR for $100 and Rapid Antigen Testing for only $40 - both for travel. They have pretty good reviews as per google.   I also saw on the CDC Rapid Antigen tests are acceptable for entry into the US.

I ended up booking an appointment with them for the Rapid Antigen Test on http://www.medionerx.com/. You should check them out.

If anyone does have any input on trustworthy and FREE COVID-19 tests for travel, please let us know.

Thanks!

Mel

You're very welcome. I have researched everywhere. This seems to be the cheapest place that offers travel testing, if the Pearson Airport one doesn't continue (or if they dont bring up another service in time for our flights).

I last did it with LifeLabs and although their report is thorough and turn around time is like 24 hours, it was $224 after tax.  I have always wondered if the Airlines would accept a hospital test result, but normally hospitals don't include the lab address on their results document - which is what is required by the CDC.

If I hear about any other free or less expensive, trustworthy places, I will update this comment/post!

OMG that's insane, sorry you had to go through this. That's almost comparable to the price of a ticket to US. There is one clinic close to where I live and they also are charging $150 pre-tax. Thanks once again for sharing and if I hear anything too, Ill update.
