Now that our 2 year anniversary has passed, I'm finally moving down just in time before my visa medical date expires.

For people who've gone by land via Peace or Rainbow Bridge - do they make everyone in the vehicle go inside to secondary? If so, what about any pets in the car?

We have an 8 hour drive and I have two cats who are terrified of travel. The idea of leaving them alone in a car on a hot July day worries me, and especially if it's tacking another hour on top of an already long drive.

Does anyone have experience with similar situations of pets in the vehicle while crossing at POE?

Hello.  Sharing my personal experience when travelling to US on work visa. My cat stayed in the car for almost 45 min and he doesn't like travelling either. We spoke to our Vet about it and she gave us a drug that relax them for 4-5 hours. That's what we did. As far as the weather is concerned, It was the the month of Feb and I had my windows down a bit while I was away.

Hey guys my DQ date is sept 22'  I did not recieve a interview letter?  Did anyone with the same DQ(ued( date received a interview letter ?

So far as the tracker reports and what we saw on this thread, the cut off for July interviews was Sept 21 DQ.

Since K1 already received ILs for August, I am hoping CR1/IR1 will receive letters soon for August too, perhaps during the week of July 6.

Good luck, and please do update us when you get the IL.

Hey everyone. Just an update that after my interview and approval on March 10, I crossed the Sarnia, ON border on April 24. I rented a U-haul to take my stuff. The officers at the border were really nice. I was called in to activate my visa and was asked the name, DOB, phone number, and address etc. of my wife. The whole process took about 15 - 20 minutes. I was told that my green card would be mailed within 90 days and for SSN I have to get an appointment with SSA.

On May 7, I got my SSN in the mail (I did not get an appointment) and yesterday, May 20, I got my green card in the mail. I was not asked for a signature. So, that was that. Phew!

Just wanted to say thank you to Hawk Riders, DGF and all the wonderful members who have helped me immensely with the process and kept me sane through the uncertain times. To everyone waiting for your ILs, just hang in there; ILs should be on their way soon. Please feel free to ask questions here and in PM if you have any.

Hello, just a quick question. How long did it take you to get interview date from the time your case was approved by the National Visa Center?

Quick Question - If an affidavit of support was done, a the interview, I need to bring the Form 1040 of the joint sponsor from previous year (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html#pre_interview_checklist). Which one is it ? When I applied we used the 2019, but could it be now the 2020 they want now ? Thank you.

You will need to bring the financial documents for tax year 2020 as the deadline for 2020 taxes has passed and they are now the 'previous year' the pre-interview checklist is referring to. I'm going to bring an updated I864 that reflects the latest tax year being 2020, along with the tax info for 2019 (the ones originally submitted) just in case

I think this draft was published a while back and includes a lot of great ways to reform the system. Unfortunately, I don't think any of this will be put into in action for a while. I guess it's good to know that things are changing and we'll be the last batch of applicants who have to wait this long.

Ha!  The DoS IT is abysmal as it is.  They'd need one helluva injection into infrastructure updates.  Unfortunately, Trump kyboshed a lot of visas for the high tech folk that can implement these upgrades if given the resources!

Hi everyone. I disappeared for a bit. My husband landed into New York on April 9th, few days after he received his passport in mail. We planned to cross the border early morning, the immigration officer didn't take him into secondary, Infact forgot to even stamp his passport didn't give him any welcome to America package or anything. We found out this was an issue when my husband applied for SSN in NY and they couldn't issue him the SSN as there was no stamp on the passport. Anyways, long story shorty he went into JFK airport to get the passport stamped. Them his SSN arrived within few weeks. But it's going to be 3 months for him on July 9th but no green card. Any tips on this? Did anyones green card take this long to arrive? At this point, his work has already been transferred from Toronto to u.s., he can probably use his visa as green card replacement for HR, but just wondering how we can track down green card with USCIS. It's impossible to reach them my phone.

Took 177 days to get our green cards.  I put an inquiry in through the CEAC portal and had to call, but eventually we got them.

Do they require all people in the vehicle to go inside?

I don't believe so.

I'd probably take 2 sets of keys and just leave the kitties in the car with the AC running.  Lock with the second set unless you have a proximity fob and can walk away with it.  If someone steals a car at the border, I suspect the agents have a MUCH larger problem!

Just received actual greencard in the mail today, 29 days after crossing the Detroit POE! The border agent said it'd be way delayed and warned us it wouldn't arrive till next year and we'd likely need to renew the IV/PR stamp in the passport...I was thinking all along nah..I've seen too many other folks here say recieved within 45 day, sure enough super quick, YAY we're done with the journey!!! Till citizenship!

Where did you too? And did your status on the USCIS page change? Sounds like I crossed the same POE a little before you... but mine still only says fees received and no card yet :(

We actually never checked the status on USCIS, just assumed it'd be awhile, month and a half anyway and then I'd probably get curious and start looking, but just logged in and doesn't say anything different than what I assume yours does, says paid, we paid online a day before crossing. We moved to Florida, took a risk on buying a house sight unseen, and with a little luck we lined up a lease till close...which we close Wednesday, long crazy story but sure we all know how the housing market is..

Hi

What documents did you need for your cats? Is rabies vaccination enough? Thanks

Do you guys know if I can leave US while waiting for my green card? Seems like I'll have to go back to Canada to finish off some business and therefore I wonder if I'd be let back in with the stamp in my passport only (and a uhaul truck)?
